Upgrade the servers?
I get an error message every other time I click on a thread. I don't know if this is just a problem on my end, but it's getting kind of rediculous.
|
that stupid database error? I get it constantly.
Is this server running SQL or some other program like Crystal? I think an upgrade to SQL 2005 would do this forum nicely. |
Yeah, I think it is time for an upgrade... the pages take for ever to load or they error out
|
they upgraded just a lil while ago and it still sucks.com
|
bandwidth costs money, though power's a 1 time shot.
|
dont know what hardware/software is needed but this site should have a page where we can donate $ to have the site trouble free.
|
i would give a few bucks to have it run smooth. <------LIAR
|
why donate this guy that runs the site is the same guy that does the rx7tuner magazine. he takes everyones mney and says he will doing the mag soon, a few friends of mine have been waiting 6 months, i would rather just go to barnes n noble for fast fours n rotories
|
^ I had forgotten about that. I'm still getting database errors every other thread, it's sad really. Guess I'll have to live with it since I'm sure this section doesn't even get read.
|
^^ probably so. i agree about the errors. i get them constantly.
|
Database errors are driving me insane.

My guess is the owner/operator of this server doesn't know anything about high-load servers. This server NEEDs QoS of some form. QoS profiles need to reflect the capabilities of the system. If the DB can only handle X request per minute, the network needs to let in 10 less than that number. |
As the copyright at the bottom says 2004 and not 2007, I would GUESS a few things that are causing that database issue.
1. vBulletin is out of date / out of support. RX7Club is at version 3.03, where version 3.6.x is out now. 2. MySQL is not the latest version Not sure what "bandwidth" this site pulls each month, but I could probably host it or a mirror of it, just take a couple days downtime for a faster server, with upgraded MySQL and vBulletin ;) ~CYD |
^^ Ditto. But "bandwidth" isn't killing this server. Memory/CPU usage is. DB Errors aren't being caused by low bandwidth. :)
I don't think mirroring this site is worth the effort. Honestly, I say let the site crash. Thats how problems get fixed.. With disasters. :) |

All I was saying was that SQL is built for large DBs, and can handle large DBs better than most other programs. |
Well, I've been on a whackey sleep schedule lately... and every night at 2-2:20am Pacific, the site appears to be down for longer than normal. I was assuming that those types of operations were being handled.
SQL is built to suck the life out of hardware.. Its a terrible application. Microsoft needs to stick with Desktop operating systems and let the *nix people deal with servers. |
Resolved.
