Just wanted to know, all who have their own website who did you go through to get your domain name? I want to get an idea of who to use to set up my page.......

godaddy.com is one of the lowest priced places to get space as well as domain reg.

^^That is who I use as well. They have good tech support as well but the only downside is having to call the US for that support. Make sure you request no promotional emails, I get at least one a week.

My main site (aaroncake.net) is registered through Network Solutions. Back when I first registered it, there was no other choice.

I have a few other names through RegisterNames.com and the former RegisterFly.

why are they like $7 or whatever and others $30.......i found this site that compares hosting sites and godady came in 7th, they say hostpapa is #1 http://www.web-hosting-reviews.ca/iindex.shtml

Go daddy is 7 dollars for the domain only. Then you also need a server to run it(unless you plan on making your own server and have the stuff needed) other places higher costs like 30/40/50 includes domain and Xamount of months with service. Or atleast I know some places do this. Hope this helps, read before you buy

We've used godaddy to register our business domains, and looked after hosting separately. As other posters note, you have to compare similar packages - some offer the hosting as part of the registration package, or at least present that to you first, or make it appear you need to do it all as a bundle. They also of course want to get you to take lots of add-ons, which may or may not be useful for your needs; eg private whois info is probably a good idea if you're self-hosting and the info will be your name and home address, but may not be a big deal if it will be business info rather than personal.

For registration of .ca domains I use Canadian Domain Name Service (www.cadns.ca). Most of my hosting is done with Hostgator (www.hostgator.com).

Whatever you do....do NOT use Webserve Canada.
