thewird's 20B Track Beast Project Finally Started :D
All I can say this car is an animal while not even in boost. Pulls harder from idle in vacuum then a Turbo II in boost and sounds amazing. Video does not give it justice. See it at a local Sigma Event to hear it sing
Ok, went to pick up a PFC yesterday from Marco and got a chance to see the 20B itself!! Pictures DO NOT do justice to the work put into this monster. Like I said Marco, Still can't hear it!

Umm... So I raised my fuel cut to 18 PSi today and managed to do a short 1000 RPM pull in 5th gear. This thing is pulling like a freight train at 4-5k RPM in 5th gear and flat 10 AFR's LOL. Those AEM coils are really doing work. I think the setup is too efficient, maybe I need to add a restrictor in the exhaust to slow that turbo down.

I'm going to let it slide this time only because he ordered bacon crumble and hot Italian sausage on his pizza.
PRO tip for pizza - is add BBQ chicken in addition to the toppings you already selected. Mmmm

So I decided it was best to just take the car track and slam the slicks on it and tune it there. Got a friend to drive the truck to bring the tires and gas etc. Got there a little late but got the tires on fairly quick since I had help. First few laps was mostly watching gauges and familiarizing myself with the car again. After the 4th lap I came off and made some adjustments to the tune since it was a little lean up top. Went back out and everything was good to redline, started to figure out how to put the power down etc. and then everyone got pulled off after 2-3 laps. Then my 3rd session I stopped focusing on my gauges as much since everything was mint up to that point and actually started to drive the car instead of going off of memory. Around the 3rd or 4th lap, the tranny decided to let go so I came off. It only lasted around 10 laps before it let go but really this was when I actually started giving her some.
But anyway, all I can say is I still have the biggest smile on my face you wouldn't believe. I don't know how to describe it, the car just pulls like a freight train hard. Even with my 295 Hoosier slicks 2nd gear fully spins and 3rd kinda grips but its wiggling down the straightaway lol. Car is dangerous as hell but I like it
. Even though the tranny popped, I'm still happy as ****. The car worked 100% as its supposed to and its a frigging animal with zero issues. Well I guess if lack of traction is an issue LOL. I need 335's...
Also to note the car has a 12 PSi wastegate spring but its boosting like ~17 psi. I need to bring the boost down so I'll probably install an Apexi ATS I've had for a while to give it some backpressure to slow the turbo down. Basically I have to detune the car until I can afford a proper transmission. 10 laps isn't enough life lol.
This was after popping the tranny...

I know, eh! The plumbing looks oversize, but you know what? It's appropriate for the air it moves.
I've seen the car up close, parked. But I want to hear it wail on the track.
So, what are your plans for a tranny replacement, Marco?

Right now since I don't have 10k to spend on a tranny + rear fender flares + new rim/tire setup, I'm thinking of installing a butt plug and detuning it until I can afford to do the above mentioned upgrades to be able to use the full power.

Car looks Great!! Have you thought of maybe swapping in a r154 tranny? I plan on dropping mine is this summer, should handle 900whp with the MC upgrades and keep you in the 4k budget with the pac adapter.....

The aftermath of the blow... That 3rd gear just doesn't like me. This is the 3rd tranny I blow and it was always 3rd gear. Though this time it was different, it broke both connecting gears.

The supra tranny doesn't give me a lot of options for gear ratios.

Well i dont track my 20b but I know driving it on the steet with a toothpick for a tranny is not fun...you cant drive it without thinking about it. I have blown a few trannies now and third gear is always the culprit.
Best of luck with choosing the right tranny down the road, cheers
