There needs be a shake up in the Canadian Forum!

I think the Canadian Forum needs a change of guard... a shake up of management. Down with the old! In with the new!

We need to bring back the old Canadian forum when it was at it's peak... I'm not going to name names, but you know who you are. You personally ruined the Canadian forum and flooded the market with $hit FD alternators.

Who is in? We revolt!

Feds 11-18-08 10:20 AM

PIIDB... Errr.... IBTL!

I've noticed it in all sections of this forum. Apparently shooting the shit about RX-7's is no longer a fun leisure activity, it has become serious business.

The rise in energy costs has lead to a shortage of electrons, so RX7Club has removed fun from the forum in order to save costs.

RacerJason 11-18-08 10:59 AM

Jason are you trying to say that I would be more fun? lol

It is far too quiet in here recently, say the last year, and I don't feel it's the moderators faults entirely (me being one now).

Silverrotor and Vipernicus haave both been pretty hands-off allowing some more off-the-cuff stuff this year (kudos), just seems that the people aren't coming back or have moved on from driving rotary grenades.

Come visit the Lounge, we have cookies!

Buggy 11-18-08 11:32 AM

The Canadian forum is quite dull indeed. I've only been on here for a little better than a year so I guess I missed out on the glory days of the forum. It needs more people to come on here and chime in with any random thoughts they have. Thats what makes it entertaining. We need more randomness! There's too many serious people on here that just need to let loose and have some fun. Isn't that what owning a rotary is all about in the first place?

HEVNSNT 11-18-08 11:39 AM

The canadian forum use to have the highest post count next to southwestern states but now we're like 5th. Let us all pray that the gas prices remain low into next summer so that we can all meet once again to shoot the shit.

Let's start a Canada wide meet in Winnipeg again!!!

When a guy from Mildmay is calling the forum boring, you know you have a problem. Seriously, how long do you have to wind up your generator before you can post on here?

Snrub 11-18-08 11:54 AM

I agree with racerjason, it's just people moving on and cars disappearing, etc. Look at the FC forum, the volume of posts is WAY down from a few years ago.

Ultimately a forum takes effort from it's members to work. If people are unhappy with the conversation, try to stimulate some. :) Cheers obviously isn't the first one to complain, but I'm honestly not certain what drives this dissatisfaction. For argument's sake, let's say the moderation is as bad as people say it is. Are you going to let some minor grievance affect how you use the forum? To the best of my knowledge there are few 15 year old girls in the Canadian section. ;)

A lot of the long term people still seem to be around, but they don't post.

a few of us have been busy creating generation "Y". and now that Big Will Stlye has passed on, the O-town meet will not be the same. RIP Will.

Offroading with hick women in bikinis is where it's at these days! I might trade my 7 for a lifted 4x4 :)

I have one more thing to add:

BAAAAAAAMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

As an Admin I can see all posts that have been modified, deleted or otherwise touched by mods and I must say there are very few of those in the Canadian section as of late. I can't recall seeing any modified/messed with posts/threads in the past 30 or so threads I've visited in this section so it's likely just due to natural slowdown more then anything else. In a sense, the Canadian forum has "grown up" a little. People have moved on to other things, are generally posting less, or are really only posting when they have something to say.

No we haven't grown up just sick of the retarded PM's with the subject line ".................." or "..................................." when you really grind their gears.

Leigh 4x4's are just as much fun thats why I have the Rx7, the Tacoma, and a car thats good on fuel. You should we can start an former Rx7 meet for new 4x4 owners.

That's a good idea then we could do 4x4 tours in the winter and RX-7 cruises in the summer. The F-150 is waiting!

First of all I'm amazed that you know where Mildmay is and what kind of a town it is. Secondly, I don't wind the generator anymore. I took the 300 twin out of the
'79 Yamaha Enticer and hooked it up. It works MINT!

Let's start a Canada wide meet in Winnipeg again!!!

Meet at the Regent Avenue Casino and then start a 24 hour poker run along the North of Superior , down through Michigan , east on the 401 and the finish line in that 25 km / hr zone outside RPM in Breslau ... that would be a drive . ... topped off with a few beers and some dino foot burgers on Joe & Dan"s BBQ

theory 11-18-08 08:59 PM

When was it at it's peak out of curiosity?

I consider myself still relatively new here, only been around about 2 years. I tend not to post a lot, but I peak in everywhere. It seems like a more "grown-up" mature crowd that is really knowledgeable and know their 7's well, which to a newer timid guy can be intimidating.

However, I sill see some funny threads and posts every now and then that make me laugh!

Alak 11-18-08 11:08 PM

I guess people just moved on. Alot of 'adventurous' threads/events have happend in the past and a few very good members probably felt it was time to move on, to put it politely.

I stick around because my heart is all rotary. I just can't seem to live without an Rx-7 (seriously). And without the folks here, glory days or not, it wouldn't be the same. We all hang out here for the same reason, because we share a common interest. I guess that means not everyone needs to like everyone else

I think its our turn to carry the torch of glory! Quick someone pick it up!

Terrh 11-18-08 11:13 PM

ibtl.

yeah 2003/4 I guess was the "peak" in terms of posting in this section

I still have rx-7's... I think I own 4 or 5 right now.

I don't post here much anymore though - idk why.

I dated a girl from Harriston for a while, I'm all about the Bruce.

.

Bruce County is a good time. You should come out for the bruce county meet next summer. Cruise the county back roads.

Aaron Cake 11-19-08 09:26 AM

Yeah, but many of the "peak" posts from that era really didn't contain anything either...There was a lot of "BAAAAAMMMMMM!!!", pages of complaining about CP and RX-7 Specialities, I was bitching about my rope ladder, and threads debating whether Neo's car has ever seen natural light...

coldfire 11-19-08 10:12 AM

haha...

well it doesn't help that everyone seems to have sold/selling their RX-7.
i am guilty of that. :(

i used to be totally addicted to my car.

RacerJason 11-19-08 10:28 AM

Well it's not like the cars are getting any younger! Driving and maintaining a 20 year old car isn't as much fun as dating a 20 year old! I joined the forum before the crash as 5.0 RX7 as I was about to transplant a ford H.O. 302. I got blindsided by rotary nuts saying it was sacreligious etc. so I gave in. Back then Cheers car was running, as was Ian's, Neo was a virgin, and post "cruise" stories brought tears to your eyes laughing as people recounted the light insanity experienced in Ottawa and Niagara, etc. Now that I am settled in a house I do plan on having people over in the spring for a bbq so keep the spirit alive!

Buggy 11-19-08 11:33 AM

I think a good meet somehwere this summer would help out the forum because I think there are alot of younger people like myself out there that just don't know a whole lot of our fellow RX-7 owners yet. Communicating on the forum is fine but if you actually meet the people themselves in person it gives you a totally different perspective, and it makes communicating on the forum easier. This being said I realllly need to get my car running again so it will be ready for spring.

RXcetera 11-19-08 11:36 AM

Aaron, in my opinion those random, personal based posts are what's missing now.

So... did you ever get the damn ladder back or what?

Aaron Cake 11-19-08 01:03 PM

Oh, you know I got my rope ladder back. :)

I tried to find the post but can't search past 2007. :(

This was the oldest I could find:
