Suspecious email: person wants to buy right away

Hi Everyone,
I recently placed my RX7 on Kijiji wanting to sell it. I received a txt message asking for me to send him an email. His name is James Pato ( jamespato18@gmail.com ) and here is what makes it look very suspicious:

his message...
Great, i am ready to buy it now, but am offshore at the moment and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I will make payment via PayPal because i don't have access to bank, So if you will send me your PayPal email or perhaps you send a PayPal payment request invoice to the same email so i can send payment. If you don't have PayPal account, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com website registration will take only 5 minutes.
Contact me back with the details below :
Your Name :
PayPal Email :
Pick-up address :
Final Price
Note that you will not be responsible for shipping and handling. The shipment will be arrange by my private transporter after you rreceive your payment.
Kinds Regards
Mr James
end...

this looks too good to be true.

I putr my vert up for Sale last year..I got ONE real offer..out of 11.That person actually showed up and bought it,Cash.
The rest were people that wanted to buy sight unseen and send Paypal, and so On.
I kept on sending emails back.."oh ya,I know so and so,and he lives in Nigeria too!!.Small world!,,do you know him?,,maybe he can stop by and pick up that cheque for me"...
..I had to amuse myself somehow,
God,some people!!!

Re

Just as I figured. It certainly does sound like a scam. Now it's time to play. I just happen to have a very good friend who is a cop. I'm sure he can point me to the right people to get this guy a bit worried.
Thanks all...\

I got basically the same email when my Jimmy was up for sale, except the guy offered me more than the asking price, which for a $600 truck is just plain weird. What they do is se you a PayPal payment but they use a faked PayPal email format. With these transactions, if your first reaction is suspicion then your probably right.

If my internet access was "Limited",the last thing I would be doing is Emailing YOU about a truck Charles!..lol!.(just kidding man!).
I'd be looking up Hotties and booking a vacation in Vegas!.(damn boat..gotta get off this thing!)

If your not feeling ethical, setup a temp paypal account, take the money, withdraw immediately and close all accounts before its charged back. Paypal has no power to get the money back and just takes the loss. The money is probably being taken from stolen credit cards FYi.

After telling him that the car was located in another city being stored for me he never emailed be back. Haven't heard a word from him again. Can you say "Scam"!!

All's good that ends good.

they usually just fake the paypal email, and then say that you will receive the money in your account in a few days. Then get you to send a refund or give them the car or whatever.
