RX-7 Heaven

Could anyone please let me know what the phone number is of RX-7 Heaven in Ottawa, and whether they are still in business. They've had my RX-7 and money for 1 1/2 years.

I believe they have moved to:

6380 Bank Street,*
Greely,*ON*K4P*1J5

The numbers I have are:

613-821-9047 (by calling 411)
613-822-3191 (number from their web page, and the number I used to call)

When called, both numbers say "this number is not in service"

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tim

they have moved to that address, or something close to that anyways. As for the telephone numbers I have no idea. Good luck, I have heard many horror stories about them...

DeadDrunkenDoug was apparently at the Shannonville race weekend...

Perhaps a call to 911 rather than 411 is in order? Seriously though, it sounds like some sort of theft has taken place. Depending on the value of the vehicle and amount of money that they've taken, you may want a lawyer to draft a letter threatening court action. I would also suggest getting in touch with the better business bureau.

They have a very bad reputation. It's unfortunate that you had to find out the hard way. I would persue this matter legally.

I too have recently been screwed by Doug/RX-7 Heaven. Picking up my car required that I contact the Bailiff: Gabe 613-723-0375 or 613-226-8794.

Any suggestions of where I should go in the Ottawa area. I need an engine rebuild/upgrade and a suspension rebuild/upgrade on my 1985 GSL.

I'm pretty pissed at this guy. His shop "Piranna Brothers" wasn't too bad when his brother was around.

Thanks!

eViLRotor 07-26-06 10:01 AM

Haha. Another guy that remembers Piranha Brothers....although, my memories of that place are about the same as the current place.

Engine rebuild in Ottawa? Basically forget about it. Everyone here does their own work, including rebuilding their engines.

We got a few guys here that can probably rebuild in their sleep (actually, sometimes they must have been sleeping while rebuilding...but that is another story). I am sure that if you wanted to undertake it yourself, some of the Ottawa Krew on this Forum would be willing to lend a hand and guidance.

Suspension is a piece of cake with some decent tools.

vipernicus42 07-26-06 08:53 PM

I agree with eViLRotor, do your own rebuild/suspension with the help of the local krew. Either that, or make your way towards Toronto, because that's the closest place you'll find where you can get a rotary rebuilt, and even then, there have been more bad shops than good from what I hear.

If you really don't wanna do it yourself, JoeRPM and brent clement are two guys I'd trust, both around Toronto.

Rebuilding a rotary isn't very hard. It's the attention to detail that makes or breaks the engine. I've learnt that lesson the hard way, even though my hand was forced on the build.

However there's 4 of us withing 5 min of eachother here in ottawa which have either rebuilt or have had a hand on at least 2 builds. I'm sure at least 1 of us can point you in the right direction if not supervise/help with a build.

If you have the money I would definatly get a professionally rebuilt engine.

Mazdees is expensive but knows what they're doing and have years of experience.

Brent whom i've sent some engine parts to get lapped also has some expirience and puts alot of attention into detail.

Only thing you have to realize is that a proper engine build is relatively expensive in parts alone, and if you do chose the route of getting it rebuilt by someone your going to be paying for that hard worked for experience and attention to detail which is much needed.

Feel free to ask any questions, but doing a quick search to see if it's been covered also helps.

Welcome to the Forum!

I was finally forced to call rx7 heaven last spring when I couldn't get a new rear caliper anywhere else. My wife said there was a "For Rent" sign on their parts lot on hwy 31. The phone message said they were closed due the owner being in some kind accident with a drunk driver and suffering serious injury. Doesn't sound too good.

StarScreaM2k1 07-30-06 01:20 AM

Also RPM Performance is a excellent place for Rebuilds as well. Joes good knows what hes doing and has good pricing as well. Just another alternative. I am getting my rebuild done from him, and it almost done too :D

My car and money have also been in his hands for 1 1/2 years. I've been calling and going there and getting the same story, we have your parts, we expect to get to it at the end of this week. Two weeks later I drive by and my car is still sitting in the middle of the sea of broken down sevens. I haven't bothered him for a couple of months, now I try to call and I get an "out of service" message. I'm afraid now that whatever's left of my car is either rusted out or inhabited by vermin.

Paid a visit to the place of business tonight. Place is locked up tighter than a drum,.... by the bailiff, since July 18, for termination of tenancy. Half the cars are gone. Mine's still there, so I have a few phone calls to make tomorrow to try to get it back.

RXciting 08-01-06 11:43 AM

I'm assuming the reason we've never seen you around might have something to do with your car being at Doug's. What was wrong with it when you first brought it there?

Terrh 08-01-06 12:05 PM

at least it's good that this place looks to be gone finally, now they can't rip off anyone else.

Someone respectable should perhaps consider opening up a business in the area now!

Yeah, I joined when I thought I'd have my car to go to cruises and meetings, been waiting a while. I had to bring it in when I was moving and the car wouldn't start. He said the "compression was gone". I'm not up on all the jargon, so I say just fix it - which is easy prey for people who want to take advantage of you. Everytime I stopped by to see how it was coming along, nothing had been done. "we've got your parts, just haven't been able to start working on them" yadda yadda yadda.

I've had that car for 15 years, now I'll probably have to fight to get it back. I haven't heard back from the bailiff yet, so I don't know how that's gonna go.

Unfortunatly they're still open, they just moved further south on bank st.

"Compression is gone" has to be one of dougs favorites. My car running with a really rich idle was cause "compression was gone"

If you can get it out of there I'll see if i can help you get it started.

there a "28 acres for lease" sign up in front of the current rx-7 heaven at the moment.

nfs05 08-01-06 06:05 PM

we should open are own shop and call it rx7 ressurection on his old property
... although there probably other shops called that.

Its a good idea, I wonder what is going to happen with all of the rx-7s that are there right now, thats the only things that scares me about him going out of buisness. Even though he was a loser it was still a place you could turn to when you had no other options. I even got some things off of him for decent prices a few times.

vipernicus42 08-05-06 10:54 AM

EVERY time I went there, I came back with parts that either weren't usable, or were broken. It doesn't matter how desperate you are, Rx7heaven stopped being an option to me very early on. Anything I need can either be found through mazdatrix, racingbeat, victoria british / black dragon, partsource, mazda, or other forum members.

At least used parts from other forum members are more likely to work and *not* cost you as much as new replacements from mazda.

Doug's incident with a "drunk driver" that someone mentioned was probably exactly that.... him being a drunk driver and getting injured.

I think the name "RotoRebuilers - the rotary builders!" is corny enough to be my style of name, and is applicable... If I win the lottery look for it to open shortly thereafter... with a dyno.. and a small track for testing ;)
