Dude was hauling *** on the 400 southbound. Caught doing 250. Is that a new record? I don't remember anyone getting caught going faster.

250? He was using way to much nitrous and should have deployed his parachute.

But the "stunt" title stays on your driving record indefintiely (I believe) and likely quadruples your insurance!

250 is a new record, and the 26 y.o. apologized to the officer:

correct me if i'm wrong but i heard that if you are traveling over 200kmh the cops wont give chase here in canada, for safety reasons. So if you don't stop, find an exit, and park your car without cops noticing it, you are safe :P.
alot of ifs

Indeed. In the words of Red Green "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a great Christmas." Not really sure what that has to do with the situation, but I thought it was funny.

actualy in Montreal it is like that, i have read on some forume the actual confirmation of this, tried to find it now, but couldn't. now it's not to say that they will not try to stop you, just that they wont give chase after you like in usa as it indengers both the police officer, and the public.

If they did, their heads would explode in a shower of logic.

That applies to real life only.

DON'T forget that all of the facts about streetracing comes from movies, why would they bother to actualy research the topic if they can just watch 2 or 3 movies and be over with it

It's pretty much always up to the police whether to pursue or not in a given situation. Speed of the target, traffic conditions, how reckless the driver is apart from the speed (weaving, running lights, etc.), whether the officer feels likely to be in an accident while pursuing, whether other units or a chopper can be directed to intercept - all part of the mix. So I don't think there's a hard and fast rule for most forces as to a particular speed they'll automatically break off at.

This is a perfect example of how the police media campaigns are absurd and are akin to using 'Reefer Madness' as part of an anti-drug campaign. Demonizing people for their cars is the same as profiling based on the way one dresses.

The 50km/h over the limit charge has always been a serious one. I don't have a huge problem with throwing the book at people caught doing it. Same thing with people who are actually racing each other in the street. For 50km/h over it's a little heavy handed, but that's about it. As we all know the problem is that the law applies to a broader spectrum of difficult to prove/disprove offenses.

Reminds me of that garbage truck a couple years back they caught street racing. I always wondered if the police exaggerate using that intercept method. I would have demanded to see the speed gun myself. I know in alberta, they have to show it to you.

They actually pulled over a garbage truck for street racing? WOW! I didn't know about that. That really goes to show how retarted the street racing law is. That gives me a good idea though. Garbage truck races at Varney Motor Speedway. Thats a whole other topic all together though.
