My 1984 GSL-SE

Hey guys/gals, I just thought I would share some pictures of my new toy with you. I picked up this car back in November. I think I got a pretty good deal considering its condition and the rarity of the GSL-SE model. The interior was by far much cleaner then most newer cars I've seen which was a sure sign that it had never been driven in less-then-ideal weather. The exterior was also virtually rust free, aside from some light surface rust which appeared to result from some stone chips. A fellow RX-7er, Jimmy, saw the car and agreed that it was quite the find. It came into a shop I was working at as a no-start. A starter rebuild later and she fired right up instantly. From the first time I drove the car, I wanted it! I made a deal with the owner and it became mine!

I parked it in storage until a few months ago which is when I had it towed home so I could begin tearing it down for paint. I pulled off all the parts that would otherwise be masked off and brought the car to the body shop. It returned last week and I began reassembly. I still need to put a few things back on (the windshield trim for example), but for the most part, it's back together. The tow-truck guy dented it, so I need to bring it back to the shop to get repaired. I also want to replace the front lower air dam, I'm sure some of you know how flimsy they are. Mine warped from being off the car for so long, although I'm sure storing a pile of crap on top of it didn't help either...

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I picked up an Eaton M62 supercharger for $50... so I may tinker around with that and see how much work it would be to get that thing on the RX7. I know it's not the best idea, but I've never had a supercharged car.

Supercharger? Hell yeah!!!!

PM 84stock for some insight and precautions regarding supercharging a bone-stock GSL-SE. Seriously.

What about the 12A?

If you can fabricate you can make anything work. Truth is a roots blower will provide low end torque but will never see the results a turbo can produce at the top end. You'll run away from the lights against any turbo car, but a well set up one will pass ya well before the end of the track.
