Looking for people with 1st gen in London, ontario and surrounding area

Hey,

As the title says i'm looking for someone with a 1st gen (prefrably 84/85) thats has the rats nest and stock carb ... my car is missing a few lines and hoses I think and i really need to fix this. I've looked at all kinds of online manuals but nothing helps that much they don't talk much about the lines. If you wish to contact me the best way is by PM'ing me. I check my message on a daily basis. If you leave me your phone # that would be great. Thanks

The only one I've seen on here with an FB in London is Aaron Cake and it's a '78 that he has pulled apart. I know he's selling a complete engine, so I don't know if he could be of any help to you. Andy's autowreckers has had a couple of FBs in the past.

the only fb thats i've seen in the junkyards are at bakers, he's got 2/3fb's and also about 3 fcs .. he at one point had an fd too but i don't know what happened to it. Doesn't anyone else on this forum live close by?

when i was in london 2 weeks ago i saw 2 fb;s, a yellow onw and marron one with a sa door, i waved to both but they were too busy talking to their passengers.

Just to clarify, the engine from my '78 is not for sale. I have some plans for it.

Regarding the rats nest, I still have a complete rats nest from the '78, but it's very different from the newer cars. Sadly, there's not much in comming between the '78/'79 and later 1st gens.

Have you looked at the Haynes manual for the 1st gen? It contains all the diagrams for the carb and emission system. Most of the solenoids are common between the 1st and 2nd gen, and vacuum hose is pretty much vacuum hose.

hey Aaron ... ya i knew that part ... I see fb's every once in a while but everytime i see one I'm usually walking so i can't really chase them and stop them.

Hey dj55b,

I have an all original 85 that has never been messed with, all the stuff is there. I'd gladly let you take a look at it but there is a problem. My car is currently in Ottawa and I don't have plans to get it here to Toronto anytime soon. I did have pics of it posted here (including detailed pics of the engine bay), but they don't seem to come up anymore. To make matters worse I have lost all the pics I had posted of the car and the ones I do have do not show the engine bay!

Next time I'm in Ottawa I will take some pics for you and post them... Maybe in a couple of weeks. I wish I could be of more help, sorry man.

As soon as I can I'll post something for you! Good luck!

alright what about someone helping with this whole taking off the rats nest then? Any volunteers? I looked at the tutorial many time and still don't understand everything... i'm an extremely visual kind of guy and there just isn't enough pictures on there.

Aaron Cake 08-15-05 08:19 AM

I could certainly help you with either replacing the missing lines, or removing the rats nest altogether.

MyRxBad 08-15-05 11:09 AM

Post this in the 1st gen section... I'm sure there are tons of links/people to help out.

I have a stock fb in Cambridge. It's only about an hour from london and you're welcome to come take a look at it whenever you want.
