London Members: Wortley Villiage Cruise-In Meet Next Tuesday (Jul 24th)?

As many London members know, every Tuesday from approximately 6PM until dark there is a Wortley Villiage cruise-in which takes place on Wortley Rd. between Elmwood Ave. and Askin St.

Generally there are at least 30 - 50 cars that line both sides of the streets. Primarily muscle cars and old hot rods, with a few newer cars and bikes thrown in.

I'm hoping that next Tuesday, we can get a good selection of RX-7s. I've been told that even though the RX-7 are past the '76 cutoff year, they will be allowed in. How cool would it be to have a line of 1st, 2nd and 3rd gens in various states of modification? Keeping in mind that the show is 99% V8.

The plan would be to establish a meeting time (say, 6PM at my place) and then all head down to the show so that we could park beside one another.

Who's in?

I'll be at the show regardless with my car. Tomorrow night it will probably rain, and it's also too short notice but it's likely that I'll be there as well, just without my car.

You know what I mean...No Porsches! Already too many of those things at the show.

Out of town? Bah, no excuse.

We could certainly use one more white GXL, considering that brings the grand total of attendees to a whopping 3.

I would stop by Hooters, but tonight I need to wash the RX-7 so it will be ready for tomorrow.

The percentage of precipitation for tomorrow is only 20%, so I doubt there's much concern about rain.

What's this about a hood that melts in the rain?

2 hours washing the car last night and then it rains! Luckily I covered it up first so all that's necessary is to pull the cover and wipe down with a towel...

According to the forecast, that's all the rain we'll see until Wednesday so I'm still planning on going to the show (since I've been waiting nearly 6 years for this). Hope to see everyone there.

The plan for me is to just show up sometime before 6PM. If there were more of us, a more formal plan would have been necessary.

And it's raining again. Bloody wonderful. Just after I take the cover off the car as well...

I'm not sure what happens at this point. Don't know whether the show will happen or they will skip it. Last week we had similar weather with rain during the day and the show did not take place. I'm going to drive by on the way home from work (around 5:30PM) and see if anyone is there. If nothing is happening, I'm going home. Otherwise I'm also going home but coming back moments later with the car.

Not sure if those who are farther away then a few blocks should bother making the trip. Arrive at your own risk.

Its called a sugar hood.

Its a hood made entirely from sugar so you see when it rains it melts the belts get sticky its just not a good time. lol no I just put on my new ks carbon fiber hood so now there is a big friggin hole directly over my intakes so i don't mind driving it in a light rain with the way the hood is shaped not much if any water is getting in add hot engine to that im good but having it stopped (cold engine and rain actually making it into the vent) is not my first choice. I am sure I will make it out to one sometime soon. mind you I just don't like the wortley one. last time i went with the fd the people organizing it were hostile and rude to me because i drove a new peice of **** tuner. and not an old muscle car. I usually stop by the thursday night one in the westmount parking lot but this thursday my gf is getting a tattoo so maybe next

Even with the threat of rain, the show took place on Tuesday. Actually the turnout was surprisingly good with the entire 3 block long area filled on both sides of the street. Lots of nice cars, lots of people as well.

I was parked behind some kind of high end Mercedes AMG, but you can guess who got all the attention.

I'm hoping that we can do this again on Tuesday:
