150 if you are lucky. You are going to suffer a massive midrange and low end loss of torque with the ports wired open. With the VDI open, doubly so. The car may be slower due to both of these "mods".

I'm building the car for circuit so the motor will be lucky to see below 55-6000 rpm so i'm not really worried about the change in the powerband

the way i look at it is that if im on the circuit shifting at 8k i wont really drop below 6500 ideally there may be a hairpin where its slow speed but id rather have less vacuum lines and electronics in the engine bay

it dyno'd at 110 all stock with the ports closed and the vdi closed with 114 ft pounds so ill be able to get an idea of what im loosing through out the power band

Im pretty sure it'll be north of 150 just cause... i know i've pulled Civic si's, civic's with Gsr swaps on the highway ya don't ask me bad

i keep getting canceled at tag for my 3 pulls :(

Aaron is there anywhere on the forum that shows dyno graphs with the ports open and closed? id like to see where the loss is in the rpm thxs

theory 07-15-09 07:46 PM

As an idea my car made 158 rwhp.

S4 block
S5 Intake with functioning vdi + 5/6 ports
RB header, no cat
Cone filter

If you want to compare on working ports vs. not working ports, maybe we can meet up one day.
I have working ports and dyno'ed around 150ish on a mustang dyno.

ya thats what im going by as well but the difference is i have an emanage with timing and fuel control with a wideband so it leaned out abit up top and some timing was added along with a Slightly higher compression it should be up around your area I hope :dubs:

oh and pd day are you coming to the bruce meet? ya man lets meet up haven't seen any local fc's

Aaron Cake 07-16-09 08:23 AM

I think there are some dyno graphs in the 2nd gen dyno subforum that have port information. Generally you can tell wired vs. non wired ports because the peak power is the same, but the wired ports have a lot less torque in the midrange. I don't have a collection of them off hand though since I have never dyno'd an NA rotary and wouldn't have bothered to make a run with the ports closed vs. wired.

Yeah, I guess on a full track car it's a different story as far as the ports go. In that case there probably isn't much harm in wiring them open but there will be a time when you exit the corner in the wrong gear and wish they worked. :)

I won't be coming to the BCM ... got something going on this weekend already.
If you want to meet up tonight .... maybe we can have a random meet at 401/dundas

u mean 403 dundas right? lol do you have a silver FC?

ya i know there may be a time where i wish i had a bit more midrange coming out of a corner but not too worried bout it ive drivin it on a track and im usually pretty good at getting my gears right

I have a white FC.
