Got a silly legal question
Is it illegal to drive on Ontario roads without a hood?
I ask for two reasons..... 1) I want to test a couple of things with air temps and trying to see the effects of bringing in ambient air to the engine bay before I go through with a fair bit of work. 2) I might be trading someone my stock hood for a aftermarket one ( still working on the details ),. Shipping can take a while, and I do not want to miss the meets we having coming up. |
As far as I know I don't belive it is legal. I think its more of a pedestrian thing, as in if you hit someone walking they could fall into your engine bay. I could be wrong though, it's happened before.

I called York Regional about this issue and they informed me you don't need a hood to drive.

Growing up down in Ontario.....never had any issues with the hood off, did that on a few occasions for mechanical reasons. It will be any issue if you give the athorities an excuss to pull you over. I wouldn't worry that much over it.

Isn't driving on the wrong side an excuse already?

I would suggest you find the Ontario vehicle code on the interwebs and print out the relevant section, just in case you do get pulled over. It will probably save you some time and headache.
