Flywheel questions

Can i use an s5 N/a flywheel on a S5 T2 keg without changing the counterweight?

thanks

As far as I know all the S5 counterweights are the same, regardless if it was NA or TII. Other's feel free to chime in on this.

By the looks of it, you will be not going to the dark side.
Congrats on a wise choice.

its eventually happening i just want my car drivable for the first CSCS event

Terrh 04-22-10 08:57 PM

you totally can. as a bonus you'll have a TII engine that revs reasonably quickly!

i tought n/a flywheel is heavier than the t2 flywheel?? use fd flywheel (if you have one), they are like 18lbs or something in that range with a built in counterweight.

I was asking the same question in the general 2nd gen forum. Is the difference in weight between a stock N/A and TII flywheel of the same year, only due to the size difference? Why are the front counterweights different between the N/A and TII? Why is there a counterweight on the flywheel?

s4 na flywheel is 24 lbs
s4 turbo is 28 lbs
s5 na is 22 lbs
s5 turbo is 22 lbs
fd flywheel is 19 lbs

They're not, they're only different from one generation to the next. There used to be an S5 AT/MT difference but I think eventually one part number superseded the other.

The counterweight on the flyweel counterbalances the e-shaft eccentricity and partial rotor weight, while the front counterweight does the same thing to the front rotor and e-shaft.

I let the pooch out for a last pee at 11:00 but I guess the wind scared him back in and I didn't realize he was still loaded. He jumped on me at 2:30 AM because he wanted to be let out. I figured, crap....since I'm up I might as well get some work done so I hopped on the computer. 4:06 AM was my first break....LOL.....

I was thinking about grabbing an 8.5 lbs flywheel I dont drive the car to work... I know it'll stall way easier but i love a fast reving motor
