Dgrr 2011!

So who's all in for this wicked trip? Now that Phil has the date set I thought I'd start a thread and see if anyone else is up for the trip. Here's the info.
Dates are: April 28th - May 1st, 2011

Location: Nantahala Village

Registration will open early Jan. 2011

orion84gsl 12-12-10 10:56 AM

Providing I get the car fixed and the ignition in by then I'll be there. Missed last year and I'm already getting excited.

IAN 12-12-10 11:38 AM

You beat me to it. I was just going to post today.

We need someone to book the cabin as Joe did the past three years. "ClassicAuto" Joe will not be going this year. He is standing me up:( Gone are the days of Florida Keys ultimate rotary cruising:(

Now my next issue is that I will not have the Uber S4 FC completed and contemplating fully insuring and registering the S5 to bring down. Failure that, I may have to beg or steal a ride down. I am booking the week before off and after. I was planing if I have my car registered (S5) to cruise around the mountains for a few days afterwards.

barnett87rx7 12-12-10 01:43 PM

Ahh I wish I could go but that is going to be right in the middle of my exams this year.

2Fierce 12-12-10 03:06 PM

Every year I try to go and every year my car fails. Provided the car does not fail, I'm down.

Buggy 12-12-10 06:47 PM

I'm not even sure myself if I'm going to go or not. That's why I created this thread. I have to choose between going south in March with a bunch of friends or this trip. If we get a good crew together I'll go, but if we don't I think I'll head to some nice sunny beaches in March.

Bwek 12-12-10 11:02 PM

I'll go if i have a ride or if i can drive my S4 down

Terrh 12-13-10 08:13 AM

joe why aren't you coming??

Marco, are you in?

I am planning on attending. my GTR should be ready and if it isn't I'll take the cosmo.

classicauto 12-13-10 12:02 PM

I'm going to a Fix Auto Conference (annual) in mexico. Back only days before DGRR, and I need a few days to catch up with the work before my dad leaves at the start of may.

thewird 12-13-10 12:40 PM

I should be in, just not a definite yes yet. I still need to get my car finished so I can take it to Joe's >.<

I'm hoping there's going to be a good canadian presence. We've always repped the great white north pretty well......finish your damn projects people!!

This is the greatest rotary meet/cruise you will attend PERIOD.

Anyone considering going and have POS? Don't worry, those southern boys will outshine you in the mis match panels, stock wheels and stained interior department. Yes there's nice cars there but no one gives a shit if you're car is good or not. Its about rotary cars, cruising the dragon and meeting new people. Just get your shit running half ass reliably (half ass is the minimum requirement....there's too many break down fix up stories to count from the past)

GET IT DONE!!!

Neo 12-13-10 02:45 PM

If I manage to put some money away for that date, and if the weather co-operates, then I'll be down.

IAN 12-13-10 04:37 PM

I'm going no matter what.

2Fierce 12-13-10 06:18 PM

I'm going to work tooth and nail to make this trip. Dead-eye is probably down too!

Redshft 12-13-10 08:09 PM

We're planning to attend again. This time, I think I'll have a couple more Nova Scotia cars with me. (Of course, I was supposed to have some more with me last year.)
It's a LONG drive from here, but so worth it.

Buggy 12-13-10 08:56 PM

If I go I need to get cracking on the Rx-4. Get some better brakes and suspension on that baby. Not to mention an OVERDRIVE gear!

Mr.Cool 12-14-10 11:33 AM

I never paid much attention to how much it costs. Figure two nights split at a hotel for the way down and back and maybe $150each for the cabin at the resort. pending costs/amount of people in the cabin for the three nights. Then gas and food. I think you can easly do this for under $400? Anybody from the last few years can comment?

Either way its awesome. Steal beg or just plan save. You have to go. i can't bear to even miss this event. I figure I would say the same if I could ever go to Seven Stock.....

There were 200 cars there last year.

Is that enough? :)

JDK 12-14-10 02:21 PM

I'm trying to do this with you guys this year, so I'm in unless something comes up.

Mr.Cool 12-14-10 02:42 PM

by enough people i meant from here, i dont want to have to go down alone. lol, but it seems like there will be.

Nothing should come up. Of all the years of track days and club meets this is by far the best!

Hope to see you there.....

So who wants to be the one to arrange a cabin for us to stay at?

djphonics 12-14-10 04:12 PM

i'm interested, how long is the trip? how many days? and more info on the cost?

splinter 12-14-10 05:26 PM

a few Q's

Is this event for anyone with a rotary or only known members? Is there an age requirement and/or a licence requirement? Reason for asking I get my N in january and am only 17. Thanks for the answers in advance!

Buggy 12-14-10 05:39 PM

As far as cost goes, figure on around $500 USD if you have a passenger to split on gas with. Always take some extra cash with you just in case. The trip can be done for less, but why not enjoy it rather than pinch pennies the entire trip. Buy some shirts and stuff, drink some beers.... this list goes on. :)

Last year we left late in the afternoon the Thursday before and we pulled an all day drive back so we got home EARLY Tuesday morning. We actually crossed the border around 11pm Monday night. For the record, I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THAT! 16 hours behind the wheel is just too much for one day.

The event is open to anyone that signs up and pays the registration fee of like $25 I think. For that money you get a wicked T-shirt and a bag full of other goodies from the vendors and stuff. Not to mention being able to drool over some wild rotary beasts!:icon_tup:

Any other questions check out the even website. dealsgaprotaryrally.com It hasn't been updated yet for next year's event, but there is still lots of good info on there. Like Joe said, you don't need a crazy show quality car to attend this event. Only thing is, make sure what you do bring is in tip top shape. 32 hours round trip drive plus thrashing your car on the dragon will take it's toll. Leave some time to get the bugs ironed out before hand..... Unless your name is Marco....
