wow. I almost can't believe that. All 4 wheels. That sucks.

Did you notice the e-brake was on too?

R.P.M. 06-13-07 04:04 PM

I was just about to say that the e-brake was on LOL

RX7wieler 06-13-07 04:37 PM

I think I would have cried if that had happened to me. That would really suck in every way possible

Neo 06-13-07 04:51 PM

Does anyone know how this happened? Did they tighten the lugnuts too much? Were they new studs?
Find it kinda odd all 4 wheels came right off the car... Could this happen if you tighten the lugs to 250ft/lb?!

Bass 06-13-07 04:53 PM

Lol...that's one of those things that you kinda feel bad for laughing...but that was funny.
I remember seeing someone pull into the left turn lane at a red. Just as they were coming to a stop (lucky for them...and others) their right front wheel continued on through the intersection through four lanes of traffic. It was a miracle that it didn't hit anyone.

nfa 06-13-07 04:55 PM

WTF ! Sabotage perhaps ?

Nick86 06-13-07 05:37 PM

That has to be about number 3 on the list of "Top 10 Ways to Feel (and look) like a complete Douche."

And I should know....

I didn't torque one of my wheels on my old Audi, and the wheel came off while I was driving. Yeah, one of my finer moments... lol

darkfrost 06-13-07 06:08 PM

From what I understand from people that were there, lugnuts with the wrong thread for the studs were used. There was enough engagement with the threads to hold the wheels on until there was a sideways load, then they stripped out.

Valdez 06-13-07 06:18 PM

For sure sabotage! One wheel is understandable, but 4 no way. One of my wheels did this, but I caught it before it fell off. I think somebody loosened them, cause they've never come off easy for me before and there was no difference in the way it drove until that night.

RXciting 06-13-07 06:19 PM

Wow that bites! Wonder if the owner did it himself or if he has someone to go after to get the damage paid for.

Would the chassis even survive that kind of abuse w/o any significant damage?

Neo 06-13-07 06:19 PM

Damn! That's a really big overseight!

Feel sorry for the owner...

HEVNSNT 06-13-07 09:28 PM

If you look at the left rear, the studs look broken off flush with the rotor. It would take a tremendous amount of torque on those nuts to brake those studs off one wheel nevermind all 4 and it's not like he hit a curb or had heavy side loading from cornering.

GodsOwnThunder 06-13-07 10:03 PM

I wonder if those were his wheels. or borrowed just for a run to see what difference they would make.

either way. It was a shame and I hope the car was not too badly damaged.

7_rocket 06-13-07 10:06 PM

repost old man

DeAd-EyE 06-13-07 10:17 PM

I noticed that too, wonder why the left rears were sheared, but the rest were there, but with no nuts?

SavannaFC 06-14-07 11:28 AM

The first thought that ran through my head when I saw this was "Sabotage". But in any case, this totally sucks, I feel really bad for that FD owner.
