Canadian GP

I am attending the Canadian GP this year on June 8th and will be driving up to Montreal with my family. I was wondering if anyone who has experience with this or is a Montreal native could give me an idea of the best way to get to the park on Sunday. I assume that I should plan to park the rental car outside of the city center and ride the subway to a station close to the park? I am not staying in Montreal we will be driving north of the city to spend a week of vacation following the race.

Thanks for any insight you can give me on this.

there is some parking on site, but yeah your best bet is just to do it on foot. so park the car somewhere and take the metro.

i have gone every year the past 4 years or so, but i can't make it to this one.
it's always a great time!

Don't bet on the onsite parking. Def take transit.

Montreal Transit drops you off right on the island, the ticket turnstiles are 200 feet from the station exit.

And it usually take a good hour to travel that 200 feet... especially on the way out.

i might be going for the 15th time this year...
but its not confirmed yet, if i am ill give you my cell phone maybe we could meet and go eat somewhere after the race !!!

don't spend too much money at the strip clubs that weekend, it's not worth it!
just my opinion though...

You're not going to the right clubs then! ;)

As has been said, take the Metro. There is on-site parking but you need a permit, and it's near impossible to get out afterwards.

Here is teh GP website that has tips etc:
http://www.grandprix.ca/home.html

Personally I like to bring a back pack with lunch and a cool-bag with some beer as it is crazy pricey at the track!

Also, here is the MUCTC web site (transit) that has all the Metro maps:
http://www.stm.info/English/metro/a-index.htm

The track is at the Parc Jean-Drapeau station, so take the metro from anywhere to Berri-UQAM and switch there. The place is well sign posted so you will know where to go!

All weekend there are plenty of streets closed off with car shows and events, so pick up a Gazette when you get to Montreal and take advantage of the nightlife and party atmosphere!

I'll be there again this year (haven't missed one yet!) sitting on the inside of the hairpin again - should be great!

haha...well, maybe i AM going to the right clubs, that is the problem. i always end up broke, hehe...

and yeah bringing your own beer is good...the beer on track is expensive. although i do vagely remember saturday last year. i don't know how much i spent, but by mid-day i was inebriated and talking to some pit crew for the Ferrari challenge race about the cooling system in their car. man i must have looked like an idiot...
