Auto Value Spark Plugs

Was at one of the dealers the other day looking for some spark plugs for the fd. They were currently out of stock, but the parts guy told me to run over to auto value and get some there. i questioned that at first but he told me they are the exact same plug as they get, just a different box.

Can anyone confirm this? anyone running the NGKs from autovalue? i'm not sure what the price difference would be, but i am assuming they'd be a tad cheaper from auto value?

Just ask to see a plug and see if the part number is the same. Even on rebadged plugs, it still retains the original NGK part number.

I've never bought my plugs at the dealer, I usually go to Autovalue, or Gregg's Distributors - they will be exactly the same NGK plug (I do often have to wait for them to get them in from the warehouse, so later same day - worth calling first). Chances are good both the dealer and Autovalue pull them from Gregg's (unless the dealer gets them in Mazda packaging?), amongst other warehouse/distributors, so the price is usually a couple bucks cheaper per plug for me there. But I don't know of other wholesalers than Gregg's who sell to the public.

Autovalue in the SW, same block as RX7 specialties, always stocks them as thats where RX7 spec gets their stock from, they are 21 a plug I believe.

Ive run them in my track car for years with no issues.

Thats the kind of solidification i wanted to hear.
When you buy the plugs at the dealer they do come in a mazda labelled box. RX7 Specialties get there plugs aswell as oil filters and numerous other parts directly from the mazda dealers. dont ask me how i know.

it will (should) just be a simple yellow NGK box.

I've never bought them directly from the dealer. Carquest stocks them because of me

Just checked my stock from Napa, they have a good number of NGK plugs in the warehouse so I could get them delivered to me at work same day.:) I ran those plugs in my NA FC for about 3 years. They looked like hell but the car still ran.

Last time I was at my local Napa I was quoted over $100 by the old fart at the till. Everyone seems to be selling those platinum plugs. I'll stick to buying spark plugs online.

^^Wow, $100 for 4 plugs? Last set I bought (admittedly 3-4 years ago), I paid about $45. Where's good online? Might be worth checking out.
