anyone wanting to help with an engine removal?

I need help as I am new to engine pulling.

Just for the first time I would like someone with experience help me through my first engine removal.

Preferably with an engine hoist

Or if someone can list me the tools I need, socket sizes etc

And a step by step guide as I found some threads that are not too detailed for a rotor head like me

Thanks much appreciated

Forgot to mention it's a 1988 vert

You'll need an engine crane and a socket set (just buy one of the ones at canadian tire on sale and add whatever sizes you need).

-Drain all the fluids and unplumb everything going to the engine (oil cooler, radiator, etc)
-remove all the accessories (p/s, a/c, manifolds, fuel rails, etc) and connectors, ground wires as well
-unbolt from the mounts
-lift it out

why remove all the accessories?
pull the whole damn engine.
Pop the harness out the passenger firewall, disconnect the Afm,map, etc on that side..
take the harness and engine out as one.

.and I know there is an exhaust attached to it somewhere..lol!

I've just always pulled it out as a keg. I like stripping ;)

You might have more luck finding help if you offer some beer...

You don't need an engine hoist, just offer beer.

I'll buy a 24 of your brand of beer if you help me with and facilitate the removal of motor and tranny

Maybe 2 cases if you're lucky :p

That's what happens when you get two brothers into triangle things.

I'll help with one of the steps, I'll lend you my hoist for a weekend. The rest is up to you. It's a very simple process.

PnoyRx7 07-09-13 02:50 PM

If you could do that, that would be great.

simgabe 07-10-13 06:27 AM

Let me know which weekend you you like to come and borrow it. You will have to arrange transportation as I don't have the time to deliver.
