Any recommendations for Tires...online?
 

Just hunting for a set for my van and I got a case of CRAFT (Can't Remember A EFFIN Thing) on the last place I got my tires for the FC...ya..I'm losing it!..haha!
Anyone out there have any recommendations on ONLINE tire places that serve the Ottawa/Toronto area?

I used Tires Online Canada | Quattro Tires Up to 60% Off for my winter and summer tires for my CX-3, if in Ottawa it's free shipping not sure about Toronto though, they are based out in st-jerome.

They call within 48 hours to confirm everything even if you already paid, with you and schedule a delivery time.

Worth a look.

I have mostly used Tirerack. Great prices and I have always been surprised how fast the tires arrive at my house. The exchange rate has impacted some, but their pricing is still the best as compared to any deal I can swing locally.

Tirerack is the benchmark, however with the decline of our dollar, it's no longer the best "deal" around.
There are only 2 places I ever use for tires. Simply Tire and Tires23. If you're within the GTA, those 2 places have the best prices and the widest variety of tires/wheels around.
The past 2 yrs I used Simply Tire. However this year its been Tires23 with the best deals around.
You can't go wrong with either one though.

I would try out wheelsco in Vaughan they gave me and my friends a great deal on the RE71r tires. No one in Ontario could beat their prices when I was looking.

Tirerack is an obvious one for sure. If they don't have what you're looking for, Maybe Vulcan does. A lot of the Miata guys get their tires here. They were the Azenis go-to site back in the day.

I bought my Michelin Pilot Super Sports from CEO Tire in Scarborough. They were very competitive, giving me a reasonable price for tires, balancing, and installation.

+1 to Tires23 and Simply Tire.

Great experiences with both, though Simply is a bit more organized.

As far as online? No idea, can't help in that regard.

:scratch: How about a source on the West Coast? I have OEM style 205-60-R14's on factory '84/'85 SE wheels. Original P6's lasted 17 years, 52K-k's, and had too many sidewall cracks and very hard rubber. I replaced with Dunlop SP SPORT A2's, also as 205's and they now have about 27K-k's, into 16th. year. They are a 'stickier' tire so much better than well-used Pirellis, but also showing some cracking between the tread sections. I am planning trip south to Reno and San Fran end of March but not sure if I will replace tires before, during or after trip - est 2500 miles.
The Dunlops have never let me down and cost about 100 bucks each in 2001.

Wow ebody - regardless of mileage, tires will basically be hockey pucks after 5-8 years - brittle and lacking in grip, or even dry-rotted (especially with the heat in your area, and what appears to be low kms/infrequent driving). You really should be replacing them much more frequently.

Thank-you. Yes, I suppose I had four of the largest hockey pucks in world - indeed on the 'slippery' side. I have been searching and many reputable outlets, whether north or south of '49, seem to list the correct (OEM) size but, either show them as obsolete or discontinued.
Checking Ebay produced a few ads but mainly used and only one or two tires - and hesitant to ship into Canada. I will NOT use 195 x65's - -nor replace OEM wheels.
Ideally I would like to set something up in one of the major cities I expect to travel through.

Wow, there really is nothing in 205/60R14. At TireRack, dropping to a slightly lower series, 205/55R14 gets some results, but they're all r-comps - more track-day or autocross tires than street tires, although you could get away with the Toyo R888s as a street, if there's no snow or cold-weather driving involved (I did this for a few years before moving to an actual street tire class). This is a general issue - 13, 14, and even 15 inch rims are seldom if ever used on newer cars, so tire choices become more constrained with time. I've had the same issue with competitive Street Touring class tires for my FC - I have some really light 15" rims, but there's little available in 15" sizes that isn't an r-comp (prohibited by the class), so I've just gone to using my 16" Enkei street rims, where I can still get a good variety of good tires.

Pretty sure you can get free shipping from bother these sites. There's always 1010tires but I find them overpriced and no free shipping.

I've already scaled-back our March trip south - for a variety of reasons. My car was only 2 years old last time I drove to Cal-Vada. I am still replacing pump and filter but tires will have to wait. I looked again and tread is still 'soft' and at least 70% - some very minor cracking between some of contact surfaces - in lowest areas, of course. I will keep looking at some of the suggested links/sources.
Trip now to Seattle then east to Wenatchee and north to home, which reduces mileage by about two-thirds to a more reasonable 800, and, the time frame from 9 to 5 days.

edit: Well, I did some searching and found that Maxtrek does list a 205-60-14" tire - - but that seems to be the extent of the GOOD news. Well, besides the low price of $66. each, the reviews are not very good. Sadly, poor performance in DRY or WET and poor handling, etc. etc. I believe the review was for a more 'modern' size such as 18" but shouldn't make a difference. I would gladly pay a hundred dollars more for a better (safer?) tire. I am anxious to find out what the other (stock GSL-SE) cars are being 'shod' with.

Well, I'm baaaack. Not sure how many months since I posted anything. I have visited but so little time to spare. Car has been parked since July 21 and then covered for winter by end of October - so only licenced four months all year. (That's about normal for me). I did a few shorter highway trips in the late spring but since limited to only two people, my '69 Valiant is used up to 9 months a year, so neither car driven in winter.
Tires are still as they were - - no better and no worse. I did some searching and (still) the only option for OEM tires is Chinese. Just wondering if anyone happens to use one of the many Oriental brands. If not, what ARE you using on the stock SE wheels?

I also used to run Shinkos on my sport bike, pretty aggressive canyon riding. I never put it down as a direct result of the tire.

There are choices for 14", but they are seriously limited. Another Chinese tire here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Antares-I...4-88H/49651288. It looks not bad - not that that means anything. My 6 came with a pair of almost new, aggressive-looking "Minerva F105" tires on it - the tread pattern is a knock-off of a very good Continental, iirc. But they placed 40th of 50 in a European tire-test - particularly poor in the wet, as I recall. I relegated them to the rear, where they mostly hold up the back just fine, and got some much better tires for the front.
