Update 9/10/2016:
Wow, it’s been such a long time since I’ve posted. The car is pretty much done, and I apologize to the user above that it’s taken me so long to get you some interior shots. I ordered a new exhaust guard from Modulus Motorsports since my rear bumper liked to yellow around the exhaust area. I also picked up a brand new set of OEM Rain Guards. I think they look great and accent the car nicely. I also had the car tinted. 35% all the way around and a 5% brow in front. I still need to tidy up the interior wiring and send in my AFR Gauge (It’s not functioning correctly). I also decided not to order a radio so I have a double din gauge pod coming in for that area. The car unfortunately has to sit outside now. I traded in the STi for a 2015 Evolution X Final Edition. I went to CoverCraft and bought a really nice cover for the car since it has to sit outside. I hope that when I move I will have a double car garage for both of the cars.
Here are the shots of the exhaust guard and rain guards:
Here are the interior shots:
Here is the Evolution and the FC and the FC’s new car cover:
Here are some shots a friend of mine took at the last meet:

As for your build... Simply epic. One day my FC hopes to grow up and be just like yours

Are you sure its not your wideband sensor that's the problem rather than the AFR gauge/wiring itself? I just noticed that you have the sensor in a similar spot to the stock location, which in turbo applications is too close and will burn out the sensor rather quickly, I know AEM recommends at least 36 inches away from the turbo manifold for the sensor location.

I guess since I'm here I'll drop some more photos

Persona non grata
I saw Colten's car yesterday. From a distance you think, "Nice, a clean straight FC". Then you get up closer and think, "Damn, that's really clean". When you take a look under the hood you think, "****** A, that's dining room table clean. I wish my engine bay was that clean".
And then I came home and read this build thread and it's clear why it's so clean. Nice work Colten, I'm sure it'll inspire a new generation of builds by others.

Update 4/30/2018:
Woah - is this thing still on?
I guess a bit has happened since my last post. I'll try and summarize based off my horrible memory.
If you don't like reading here is a checklist summary:
- Upgraded Fuel System to Full Function kit + Walbro 450
-Fancy Fire Extinguisher
-Fancy Wrinkle Black Paint
-New License Plate
-RotaryExtreme Hood Dampers
-Brand New Flash to Pass Lenses
- BNR Stage 3 Turbo
-Another MazdaSpeed Steering Wheel!?!?
Over the winter I overhauled my fuel system up to something respectable. I had a leaky injector and decided it was time to overhaul; I went with the entire Full Function Engineering kit with 4x ID 1050s in addition to a 450 Walbro. It's a really well made kit and will be going with them again in the future, I also got a fancy fire extinguisher and mount just in case. I finally became tired of all the polish in the engine bay and converted a lot of it to wrinkle black. Since doing that I also need proper hood dampers so hit up Rotary Extreme. I was also tired of my current flash to pass lenses and purchased brand new ones and boy are they gorgeous. The last purchase hasn't arrived yet, but I sure am excited for it t - BNR Stage 3 Turbo. I couldn't just get the turbo though, I also bought DIYAutoTune's EBC solenoid so I can regulate boost as well as a PTP Turbo Blanket for it. For some reason I purchased a MazdaSpeed D-cut steering wheel, but I already have a 160mm in the FC, so I wonder what this one is for ? Maybe we'll find out in a new thread sometime in the future.
I'm still currently waiting for the FC motor to go pop before I overhaul it. I have a list together just waiting.
Edit - If you remember some time ago. I had an internship in Missouri. I am glad to say I made it here and finally got new plates for the car.
Finally here are some pics!:
Here is the fancy fire extinguisher and an interior shot:
Here's the new engine bay theme and hood dampers. I plan to continue with this going forward:

Lastly, here are some updated shots of the car:

Update 5/20/2018:
This will probably be the last update for a while. There are a few things I’ve overhauled, that I had forgotten about in the last update. I bought some more door cards and overhauled them – combining the best of both. I also replaced the panel where the VIN is with one that isn’t fraying at the end. I’ll show a few pictures of the rebuilt door cards below. I also did the common 451 relay mod for the window switches/motor. I’m always unhappy with how things look and constantly finding better interior examples to install lol (it’s both a blessing and a curse). The main reason for this update is that I ended up getting the BNR Stage 3 turbo installed. I have the boost solenoid sitting in my office, but am waiting to regulate and up the boost until I get a better cooling solution. For now I’m currently topping out at 11 pounds of boost. On the butt dyno it feels really fast – probably only around 260-270 rwhp though. Once I get better cooling I’ll up the boost and be happy with around 350 rwhp. I had my friend over to help document the installation/take some pictures since I sold my camera. When/if I start to pick up build threading again I’ll grab another camera, but without further ado:
Here is a few in progress shots and the finished door cards:

Bonus (here is a few shots from a shoot the other day):

Update 11/18/18:
It’s officially begun! I’ve been working slowly to get the engine out and today it was pulled and torn apart. Sad news - the engine is a wreck. The previous builder did such a crappy job I’m trying to sort out what I can keep or just ditching the thing all together. The flywheel had RTV underneath it and it got into the threads of the E-Shaft. I’ll have to carefully clean that out. Both housings and the front iron is unusable - an apex spring broke and dug in. The irons that are useable have porting work that looks done by Stevie Wonder himself. At this point I’ve ordered a Pineapple Racing Large Street port template to see if it’s bigger than what’s currently there. If the template ports are larger I’ll keep the irons and just fix the porting. However, if it’s not I’ll be purchasing all brand new irons and housings creating a basically new engine (I’m going to purchase brand new housings and a front iron regardless). Next step is to get my rotors, which are reusable, out to Chip and get them balanced. I’m also buying a new flywheel and clutch as well as replacing a lot of the exterior/interior cosmetic items. Below are what’s on the buy list - some of it’s already been purchased though (Only listing upgrades + I’m sure I forgot some).
I’ve also started to look for a FD. My budget is currently 18K and I’m looking at all USDM complete running or not cars. If you have one or know of one shoot me a PM! (Preference and will raise budget for R1 or CYM!). I hope to restore one to a quality much higher than this one.
Buy List:
Rotary Extreme V-Mount Kit
Another Square LCD Wideband Gauge for the idiot cluster (mine broke)
ACT Prolite Flywheel
ACT Xtreme Street Clutch (XTSS)
140 Amp Alternator
Tial Q BOV
Banzai Alternator Auto-Tensioner
Stainless Steel Turbo Oil Feed Line
New Windshield Side Moldings
New Window Channels
New Interior Door Handles
New Oil Pan
New Sideview Mirror Triangle Trim
New Windshield Washer Nozzles
Here is a few in progress pics:
Here’s a steaming counter weight (thanks PO and RTV):

Update 2/10/19:
Haven’t posted in a bit, so I wanted to give an update; progress has been very slow due to funds. Upon breaking apart the engine I found that everything but the rotors were unusable. However, I now have everything I need to rebuild the engine. I ended up purchasing three brand new irons and two brand new housings. The plan is to go with a large street port again and shoot for a solid 350 RWHP with the BNR Stage 3. I’m also planning to re-do the fuel system lines with quality AN lines. I think they look better than the push on lines/AN Fittinngs that I currently have. I bought quite a few better looking interior pieces (biggest being a new non dimpled dash) and have plans to purchase quite a bit more, but I’m trying to focus on getting the engine back together for now. I can always continue to upgrade/update the interior as time goes on. I finally got a chance to troubleshoot why my reverse lights weren’t working, found out it was due to the wires never being ran. Whoops, I guess I forgot to do that last time I had the car apart. I made a nice little modular harness for it and connected it. I finally have reverse lights after three years of owning the car lol. I also just dropped off a lot of things for powdercoating. I'm excited to get those back.
The other reason things have been taking longer than expected is I made another purchase. I purchased a 1993 CYM FD. It’s been taking quite a few funds as it’s hard to stop buying stuff for it lol! If you’d like to follow along with that adventure you can check it out HERE.
Next update will probably be the engine being rebuilt! Stay tuned!
Here are some pics of some things I’ve been working on:
Here are some pics of a few things I’ve acquired:
