Another night...with more progress! I have 3 wires left to wire for the ECU and gauges. I found out I wired one of the relays incorrectly and its giving me constant power instead of being switched! (great...) So after that is resolved, the only things left inside the car are to run a boost hose for the ECU and boost gauge, wire up the electronic boost controller, and run wires for the fuel pump. I found a local car shop I'm going to take my turbo to, to see if they can help me find an AN fitting that will fit the turbo drain area...Once I get the turbo drain figured out I'm practically done....holy shit. I am almost done! Man this late night work is starting to get to me...

Here is a picture of the panel. I tried to make everything modular and unplug-able in case I need to pull the entire ECU panel for something. I know I need to remove the ecu to solder a wire for the boost controller...but besides that I am good to go!

Damn DIYAutotune used to charge extra for the black anodized case, and I don't think it even came with the pretty sticker on it either. Mine is just plain stainless, which looks cool, but at the same time very plain.

Looks good though. How's all that wiring going?

driftxsequence 07-31-12 01:21 PM

The plain brushed aluminum case looks kinda poo....the black looks sweet, but I wish it didnt have all the writing on it besides "Megasquirt". haha

I only have the boost controller left to wire up. I had installed the boost controller PWM on the ECU, but never ran it to a spare output. Thats the last of the wiring inside of the car.

I was at Home Depot the other day with my dad and pieced together an intake...3 inch to 2 inch reducer with a 3 inch PVC pipe...I gotta chop it down and get a 3 inch coupler to attach a 3 inch filter since the filter and pipe have the same OD.

P.S. This thread gets a lot of views...but no one comments :(

Broke_A_Baller 07-31-12 02:27 PM

Dude I know what you mean with the views and no comments..are you seriously going to use PVC piping for the air intake? Anyways, as I've noticed on here that most people like to comment when your car is getting parts put on videos posted and all sorts of stuff when one is almost completed the car ahha... I too am not use to having so many views and not many posts (besides my own). That is why I stopped posting in my build thread hahaha

driftxsequence 07-31-12 02:51 PM

Whats wrong with PVC as an intake? it's plastic so it wont heat soak...its thick and sturdy...why would I not want to use it? (not being a smart ass, maybe I am missing something here)

The views thing makes me feel like I am doing something wrong compared to guys who get tons of comments, but then again they are on the next level buying all new stuff, an engine bay clean enough to eat off of etc etc...Regardless, I am continuing to post for a few friends I know that watch this. It's also nice to look back when everything is said and done!

I do not believe anything is wrong with it...I have not seen that before is all. Very unique...

beefhole 07-31-12 06:02 PM

Now you will get comments on the intake :D
At least paint it black so nobo knows :suspect:

Who cares about quantity of comments? As long as you get quality responses, then you are fine. My thread went dead, in 2 pages, I don't care! I got my point across, and people saw. I must of done it all right if nobody is saying anything ;)

R-X-R 07-31-12 07:17 PM

i will comment, thats some ghetto intake :D

driftxsequence 07-31-12 09:25 PM

Beefhole, it will definitely be painted black!

R-X-R, and what makes this any more ghetto than any other "home depot intake"? Whats different about mine compared to the others?

nvmarx 08-01-12 02:53 AM

no one seams to comment on the build threads unless its "wow" you know what i mean???
no one comments on my shit any more bro don't worry about it

driftxsequence 08-01-12 11:34 AM

Gotcha...well, more updates!

My buddy is enlarging the end tanks on my intercooler to 2.5 inch to aid in flow. I guess that means I need to enlarge the rest of the piping to 2.5 inch as well.
Should I have him leave off the bottom heat shield or leave it on? I have heard conflicting arguments about that.

He sent me this saying "are you sure you trust me?" hahahahaah

KompressorLOgic 08-01-12 01:10 PM

lol i ususally use abs( i think?) black plastic 3" for my home depot intakes, with the same rubber 2-3" coupler... only thing i have noticed is after several years the rubber coupler appears to start kind of deforming from the heat where it bolts ot the turbo, and may need replacing at some point... wouldnt be a bad idea to check it every so often...

driftxsequence 08-02-12 09:16 PM

Sadly due to a law in Delaware, ABS cannot be sold in the state...

More progress! Got my megasquirt re-wired...I screwed it up by mixing part of Aaron Cake's guide, and DIYAutotune's guide. Everything is well now. Boost control is set up, and now I just need to get a solenoid to control the twin scroll system.

My friend finished the intercooler, and it looks great! He works with aluminum specifically and his friend has been welding aluminum for a long time...I am very pleased with the results.

Edit: whats the best way to clean out the intercooler of any bits of metal that may be stuck inside? I assume pressure washing would be too rough on the fins.

Pics as always!

Craigslist FTW!!! Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1s for $175 205/50/16 for the turbo rims, just need to get them blasted and then painted...

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...mporary-17.jpg

EDIT: turns out he had these listed as "direzza sport" turns out these are the star spec's. sweeeeeeeeet!!!!

beefhole 08-04-12 12:53 PM

^Great tire!

driftxsequence 08-07-12 07:48 AM

Thanks! I'm super excited now that I am getting close to the end...I tidied up the foot well where the ECU is...put the cover on. Turns out my main relay is still wired incorrectly. I plug the battery in and my gauges and ECU have power :(

The list is getting shorter and I am running out of steam...I have no motivation to finish these last things that need to be done...I havent done much the past few days to see if I would get motivated again but nothing so far :/

driftxsequence 08-09-12 02:29 PM

so my friend blasted my rims.....my jaw dropped! they look like they just came out of the factory! (at least on the back :P) gotta fix the front

Well my friend put the finishing touches on the wheels. He only has two done currently. Here is a better shot...He media blasted the front and I love the matte finish.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...mporary-22.jpg

I got my intake painted, cut down my 2.5 inch to 2 inch couplers (temporary!) mounted my oil drain on the turbo ( $%*1/2 npt to 10AN, 45* 10AN to AN hose),
ran my throttle cable via NA cable mod for t2 TB, and tapped the IAT sensor hole. Tonight was definitely a good night. I feel like the end is very near!

Looks good!

Looks good! Cant wait to see vid's of the finished product - just stumbled across your build and read it all! I like the PVC intake - some people argue that when it gets hot it releases some fumes that are detrimental, but i believe its only when BURNING . I've done PVC intakes for NA cars, i'm curious to see how Boostage works with it!

Any update since August?

driftxsequence 09-11-12 09:06 PM

I need to finish it up. Most of it is finished. A few days ago I had my buddy weld on my drain for the turbo oil. It goes to the oil pan. It turned out decent.

I just need to wrap the harness, bolt the stuff down for the final assembly, tap my water temp gauge sender for the ECU and get my RB presilencer back from the shop since I snapped a stud off.

I hope to start it up sometime this week or next...Cant wait to drive it again!

driftxsequence 09-15-12 06:34 PM

Hoping someone could give me a hand...Finally buttoned up my 6 port turbo build. Megasquirt built and wired per Aaron cake guild. Cranked, and got nothing. I am not sure if I should have an RPM signal while cranking or if it only picks it up once it starts to start. I had no movement of the RPMs and "fuel load" was at 100%. I am not sure if that is normal or not. I've attached a video clip in hopes it will help.

If you need any details let me know!

88fc3sT2 09-15-12 10:10 PM

I'm assuming you have spark?

driftxsequence 09-22-12 07:56 PM

I figured out the issues. I had a loose wire causing the CAS to not pick up its signal, and then my fuel lines were backwards. Here is a video of the car starting!!!

Haha, my GF was complaining about the fan blowing crap everywhere too when I first got my car running. I don't post a whole lot, but I do check up on this thread. The cAr has come a long way, and I'm excited to see the results.

driftxsequence 09-23-12 02:18 PM

I appreciate the kind words! The car is at a standstill right now...it keeps making a mean backfire when I try to start it so I am going to let it sit until I get some feedback..I dont wanna blow my motor! lol

Here is a video showing what it's doing. It happens at 5 seconds. You can hear the echo more than the boom itself.
