I cant afford the repairs for when it breaks! It's gonna be a pavement pounder that sees the occasional snow storm! Theres a lot of work to do still. I cant wait to megasquirt it though!

I will never complain about another job on RX7s ever. I would rather drop a rear sub frame or pull an engine than do shift bushings on the BMW.

but, the good news is it's fixed!

Clean e30. I've had 2 and I feel you when it comes to repairing them. Every little part unless you find it second hand is a mirrion dorrars. That and drift tax recently hit these, so they are highly overvalued at the moment.

Got a fancy CANbus gauge from PerfectTuning

4 wires, positive, negative, CAN high and low. It'll display nearly anything from the Megasquirt that you would ever want to know. I was able to remove the oil temp, oil pressure, and coolant temp and replace with this single gauge. Very excited to set up more of the functions once the car is up and running.

The one page can do a max of 4, a bunch of other screens do 2 or 3 with one or 2 screens dedicated to 1 item.

That's really cool. Do they rotate through, or do you press a button to set whichever screen you want?

You press a button to get the next screen. He is open to new ideas so it could always implimented if interested in it. Im trying to think of something i could use but it already pretty much meets my needs.

got a chance to paint the NA fender finally. Its not perfect but its closer until it can all be resprayed.

Getting close!

Turbo system is mounted and almost all plumbed. Need a bit of fuel hose to run the far side coolant line. Need to pull the fuel filter off and cut the barb to mount the AN compression fitting, and then its simple reassembly. Should be running by next weekend if I'm lucky.

Thanks to the awesome test functionalities built into the MS3pro I was able to verify spark, injectors, and all other sensors so wrapping up the harness before running was a plus. Hopefully I dont eat my words there...

Great success! started first try....but I am having an issue with the trailing spark because it is displaying double the RPMs on the gauge vs what tuner studio is showing. I tried messing with the trigger angle and 10* gets it the closest but it still hops all over the place. I'm not sure where to go with it.

Thanks to Mr. Eage8 the car is up and running! Theres a few odds and ends to tidy up before its road ready, but its running under its own power and sounds fairly healthy!

Cant believe its been a month already....We're already half way through June and the car is almost ready!

I have fixed all of the exhaust leaks...I think. and the MS3pro with FFE trigger wheel is the best thing to ever happen to this car. It's never run so smooth, and it even likes to run lean. I'm able to acheive a 15.0:1 ratio on the highway and it doesnt buck or sputter. Very happy about that and excited to see what kind of mileage I can do.

The biggest hold up at the moment is the transmission. The pretty, low mileage looking transmission has a bad bearing on the intermediate shaft. anytime the clutch pedal is pressed, the noise goes away (input shaft stops spinning). But once it moves and under load or decelleration it wines and groans like mad. The reason I believe it's the intermediate shaft and not input bearing is because 4th is actually somewhat quiet.

I found two kits, and plan on taking it to a shop to have all new syncros and bearings put in. Hopefully everything else within is salvageable. It would be great to have a crisp transmission that is worry free.

Here are the two kits I found. Anyone have experience redoing a transmission? Im willing to attempt to do it myself if it isnt too complicated. I have heard you need long arm pullers to get the main bearing off?

Props to photobucket for destroying the last 5 years of logged photos. They want $40/month to embed photos elsewhere. I guess its time to find a new host.

GASP. photobucket is back! Hooray!

Bad news. Cracked rear iron...Almost replaced the 13b with a 20b but it was 2k more than i thought it was. Maybe next time!!!!!

So much going on, and the NA is soldering on. got almost 10k on the rebuild and it runs beautifully. the BMW blew up and is in rebuild status right now.....having 2 cars down really sucks.

Wow. It's been almost a year since I've updated this thread. Hmmm what's happened since then?

The Turbo FC is just now being rebuilt.
The NA was sold a few weeks ago, I already forsee it being destroyed by the 18 year old who bought it.
The BMW is a turbo AWD monster making 350 WHP and i love it.

We sold the wife's MK4 TDI and picked her up a 1 of 120 BMW 535XI touring 6 speed wagon. N54 6cyl twin turbo 6 speed wagon. It's AWESOME!

The FC is getting rebuilt finally and I'm in the market for a 20B to run NA so I can finally get it on the track and not worry about turbo problems..
