Hey, when you started reassembling the "block", did you need to put some type of lube or oil on the seals? Just wanted to know for future reference :)

rewFC 10-08-12 01:33 PM

Looking Froward to seeing this finished. I recently did an REW swap on my FC also but still the stock twins in.

rtrychk08 10-08-12 01:52 PM

No lube just hylomar it is made by permatax i use that to help hold them down and it is also a form of silicone but doesnt harden like silicone does but it makes it easier to put the seals on

nice, what ecu? there are ways to control the twins seq without the stock ecu, or a price aftermarket. :0 hope you're keeping it seq.

Yeah that happened to me too. lol and i went with a micotech lT10s ecu. Daily Driving is only at 10psi to be safe right now. Hopefully with a dyno time and a proper tune i run 12-15psi.

boo, let me know when you wanna fix that and have 15psi under 2k rpm.

rtrychk08 10-09-12 01:08 PM

Nice yeah i hear of alot of people using microtech my brother in law has a jport running a microtech...i had an extra pfc laying around so i decided to use that for mine...i have to get a chip fixed in it though the computer thinks it is in boost all the time. Hopefully it woulnt be too expensive to get that fixed.

i do miss the instant boost at low rpm. kinda regret going non sequential but at the same time i don't mind the lag. boost for me is at 3.5k rpm. hopefully by early next year ill be throwing in a single :icon_tup:

Yeah a lot of the people i know personally run mircortech and a few with pfc. I Originally was looking at pfc but the price of the mircotech that i was offered was too good to pass up. Good luck with the fix and hopefully it isn't that much to fix.

fc pro am 10-09-12 05:40 PM

So wait, are you running a PFC or not? What turbo did you go with? Size? Thanks!

rtrychk08 10-10-12 09:47 AM

I am running pfc, turbo size is t04 t60, the exhaust housing is a 115 though i think it is hybrid the guy i picked it up from had it on an rx8 and it was a brand new rebuilt for 100 bucks so i could pass it up... it does have a plate on the back of it that says FC3S/FD3S but thats all i know about it lol .

rtrychk08 10-10-12 09:48 AM

i am a little worried that it would keep up with the port but i will just have to see i may have to go to a holset in the future.

rtrychk08 10-10-12 09:49 AM

yeah when you do builds like this it ends up just coming down to what you can get for a better price or you will end up over paying for everything and the build will never get done lol

Question: are you going to keep the power steering?

rtrychk08 10-12-12 10:40 AM

yeah i am.

rewFC 10-12-12 05:37 PM

I also kept it. Others that Has done the swap normally don't. But i had to mod the intake elbow to be able to have a clean bend with the pipping out to my front mount.

rtrychk08 10-12-12 06:01 PM

Damn post a pic of ur set up i still need to do the piping i have a fmic too

Customisbetter 10-12-12 06:39 PM

This build looks great! I love that interior. very clean!

this was what was done to the elbow to have it clear the pipping nicely out to the side and not have a sharp bend in front of the radiator.
