the battery box lid definitely finishes off the engine bay. looks great.

mazdaverx713b 10-07-09 09:24 PM

^^ certainly does! i don't know how i could ever stand it without a lid..as attention to detail oriented as i am, i don't know how i never picked one up until late this summer...

mazdaverx713b 10-09-09 08:17 AM

Looking good. I can't tell from the pics exactly but do you also have the battery plastic surround? If you don't I have my unbroken original one that I can't use with my front mount. PM me if you want it and we will set it up. Have a good trip.

mazdaverx713b 10-13-09 05:43 PM

i have the battery surround, yes. it has a crack and my lid is missing a couple of the tabs :(

beefhole 10-13-09 08:46 PM

Uh oh... no oil pressure at idle? Perhaps the gauge went bad.

mazdaverx713b 10-23-09 10:09 PM

i've been trying to sort that issue out. i have a thread regarding it.. its been a pain in the neck!

luckyfd 10-23-09 10:29 PM

i want a glass roof so bad... yet we all want something now and days

clean clean clean props on the fc beautiful car and i know whats it like to clean up from ew to wow

mazdaverx713b 10-23-09 10:35 PM

thnaks for the compliments! i didnt know how rare the bronze moonroof was until i posted pics of the car for the first time. at the time (2006) someone offered me $600 plus their UC colored moonroof for mine! needless to say, i hung onto my moonroof due to it being original to the car.

Red95FD 10-24-09 10:25 PM

A bronze moon roof. I love the bronze glass in these cars. That and the white paint. Your car is looking fantastic.

mazdaverx713b 10-25-09 12:12 AM

thanks! i wish it looked half as good as your 10AE!! i really want to recover the seats with oem style leather. thats holding the interior back!

mazdaverx713b 10-25-09 04:06 PM

replaced the tid today.. then i figured i'd check the shaft play on the turbo and when i went to spin it, it was difficult to spin..bearings are going bad...time to replace it for a 4th time! i keep buying used turbos of of the forum here and nearly EVERY one was not as described and was bad..i may just send this one out and have it rebuilt..

1SWEET7 10-26-09 01:54 AM

Yeah you should just get BNR to rebuild your turbo for you. It comes with a 1 year warranty too. :)

mazdaverx713b 10-26-09 04:44 AM

maybe i'll look into that company..i'll do some research and go from there. are the a reputable company?

1SWEET7 10-26-09 12:03 PM

Yes, Bryan@BNR is on this forum. They have a great reputation for building hybrid turbos, I doubt too many people just get the straight rebuild, but it is offered. Here is a link. http://bnrturbos.com/2ndGen.htm

mazdaverx713b 10-26-09 07:03 PM

thanks for the link! i think their prices are very reasonable and i think i'll be contacting them for a new turbo!

Master_Tao 11-12-09 04:12 PM

Awesome job on the restoration. It gives me inspiration to finish my 10th AE. I've got a lot more to do to mine, but what do you expect from a $400 10th AE?

mazdaverx713b 11-13-09 04:47 AM

i would think that it would be a diamond in the rough ;) the car has been worth the work. now maybe next year i can put some miles on it!

kustomizingkid 11-15-09 03:56 PM

Why not rebuild it yourself?

mazdaverx713b 11-15-09 07:36 PM

because the turbocharger has to be perfectly balanced.

10thAEWHiteHeat 01-12-10 02:06 PM

Dave please tell me where you got those mint floormats!!! i nearly had a heart attack when i saw them lol. Props to you my friend i have been doing major work to mine for the past year now.. You have opened my eyes to so many things i have left unturned and i cant wait to get it beack to start nitpicking at the little things

Red95FD 01-13-10 01:02 PM

lol Dave, I bet you and I had the last unopened floormats for the AE in America. I just opened mine up last year. Used them for one day and put them back in the plastic.

mazdaverx713b 01-14-10 05:35 PM

10thAEWHiteHeat, i bought them off of a forum member here and paid $250 for them unopened.. they are in the car now which is in storage. they are going back in the bag here this weekend and back in the house. Rick, i would tend to bet that you and i did in fact have the last two unopened sets of 10AE mats :)
