Mikes 1988 Rx7 turbo 10th Anniversary build

This is my second rx7. Also my first sports car in the last 3 years. School was a priority for a while. I recently purchased a 31 000 Mile 88 10AE. It is in 9-9.5 / 10 condition inside and out. I have purchased a few goodies to instal in the spring. I have absolutely no desire to modify the engine in any way. I would like to keep this car clean and mostly stock.
Heres a list of what i've purchased for the car: -Bonez superflow 2.5" system which i painted with Flameproof paint -new clutch slave cylinder -new rx7.com stainless brake lines -new Mountain front/Brembo rear rotors -new Hawk HPS pads front/rear -new o2 sensor Only other plans are: -All 4 new v belts -new coolant, oil(tranny, engine, rear end), brake fluid -New tires -rear pinion seal -may start looking for an rtek 1.5 or 1.7 system w/ 720 cc secondaries. (PM me if you are selling) Im just excited to get started. Enjoy a few part pics. |
Awesome, can't wait to see more! I've been thinking of trying to find one of these.

Thanks. When the weather breaks I will get some fresh pics of the car with these mods taking place.

Very nice! Picking up the same car this weekend (which needs a little more work @ 102k), but you're giving me ideas on how to upgrade and stay stock

Thank you. I feel like its a very strong first batch of new parts to throw at it. If your car is anything like mine (also many others 2nd gens) also check:
-Rear diff seal -trans output shaft seal -shift knob spring -Check to see if your reverse lights come on or not -any oil leaks -do the wipers work on every setting ( easy fix - you do not need to buy anything parts wise to fix this). Hope this helps |
Thanks for the info!
There are a lot of things that needs to be done (mostly wear items), but I may post a thread on the forums when I finally start work on her. Brakes will be first! (Booster, master cylinder, and stainless lines.) |

Just picked these up. They are Tokico Blue HPs with Racing Beat springs. These were installed on a car 2 years ago that was never put on the road. Only have a few around the block miles. He decided to go with coil overs so I picked these up. My parts collection is growing. Just waiting for the warm weather.

Enjoying the nice weather today. Was outside all day installing struts/springs, pads/rotors, and the SS brake lines.

Just wanted to add - I've got roughly 100kms on this strut/spring combo and could not be more impressed with how it handles. I read a couple reviews about it being too stiff. Not at all. Its perfect for the street.

I ripped the stock cats and mid pipe off the car yesterday. Installed the bonez turboflow system. What a difference! Now the car breaths much better. Revs much quicker and is fun to drive. Its sad the car is so choked out from the factory. It also gave the car a louder exhaust note even with stock mufflers.

Sorry to point this out, but your rims are reversed. L for Left.

Very Nice!

Wow good call. Didnt realize there was a L and R side for the wheels. I was told to put the rims where I did because of how the tires ended up balancing out. Least amount of weights to the front. I will switch them around.
THanks for the kind words as well. |
The old Bologna slicers . Looking good man
