Hey all. Ill quickly introduce myself and my car. Im 22 years old, work an an aircraft maintenance engineer and have just bought my first rotary. A 1986 S4 13bt. Fresh paint along with a fresh rebuild by a reputable builder was the main reason for the purchace, and I absolutly love this car. Rebuild using genuine 2mm seals and standard 4 port.

I have a lot planned for the car and plan on keeping it for a few years on this engine.

All emissions controls removed and blanked off. Otherwise its pretty standard.

(excuse the orange, potato phone :\ Will get better pictures and update these asap)

Recently bought some goodies to restore the undercaridge parts to a fresh look, with some lowering springs on some random shocks (not sure what knick they are in)

Thanks for viewing and hope to inspire others for their build!

question, whats with the SN tag? are you just helping promote?

RX7Shift 10-31-14 06:33 PM

I took it to a park up. Some random took those photos. These are the best photos I have of the car so I used them. If it's against any rule I'll happily detag them. Updates anyway! Installed the rear shocks and springs. Sits much lower in the rear. Will be putting in front ones in the next week. Handles way better on stiffer springs and it isn't to bumpy to bother me. :)

Wasnt aware of the 30min post edit timer, so if a mod could merge my double posts that would be much appreciated! :D

So only the rear springs have been installed so far, wanted to see how it would sit and ride. I will install the front and check its clearance and ride again, and then decide on a permanent setting for springs, but so far I think the rear springs will definitely be staying. :D

Pics up of the springs update:

I only have access to the car in the weekends so progress is slow until the weather becomes consistantly sunny so the poor thing doesnt get wet when I take it to work.

Little update:
New rims for skids and wof (Car needs certifying for any major mods in NZ so will get a Warrant of fitness on full standard springs and rims)
Ill get some pictures up when I have them installed and with the standard suspension too!

So I chucked on the skid rims for a good night out, Sits REAL funny with the lowering springs in the rear only on the little 16's... Next step is put the front lowering springs in and see how it rides/sits. Im really happy with the way the rear handles now, car never rubs with the bigger rims on it and the suspension still feels relatively soft. Not enough power to really skid it up though :(

Sweet car, what kind of bucket seats are those?

RX7Shift 11-24-14 12:18 AM

I honeslty have no idea on the bucket seat. Searched them for any naming / labels / words / numbers came up empty. Nothing on em. If anyone knows what they are feel free to let me know. All I can say is I believe they are replacements for the standard seat using the standard seat rails and seatbelt mounting.

Also, :(

- Carpets starting to rough up from use as it appears this WHOLE interior was put together shit.
- Clips for carpet and shit all missing from it just got laid out real tidy when I bought it. Started falling out from behind most panels in places. Ah well time to fix it all zzzz
- May as well strip everything and lubricate everything as it has all been neglected and real dusty.
- Passenger seat rail adjustment rod is snapped, so seat cant be moved...
- Heaps of other nigly electronic issues popping up everywhere. Car is really reflecting its age...

The next road worthiness check is in a month. Time to start getting a few issues sorted.

First update of 2015.

Warrant of fitness exp 23rd December and instead of getting another one I just parked it in the shed and haven't touched it in 2 weeks. Putting money and time elsewhere. Although did take it on a mission over Christmas. Haven't had the time to committing it to a minor strip down even. So not even going to bother till I can do it right. Should have it road worthy in the next 2 weeks, and stripdowns planned for in a few months. Time to get the ball rolling

Its been fouling the plugs due to running to rich, leaning it out slowly to find the best oil to fuel ratio for the motor. This sight is a weekly occurrence... Swapping the spark plugs for clean ones

The alternator belts were rubbing, so i realigned the alternator (notice the black covering the alternator)

Started it up for the first time in over a month. Started straight away with fresh plugs. Real happy with the motor havent had a single issues other than fouled plugs!

Wanted to get a better interior pic up:

I want to say it's a J-Spec for first gen FC and I've seen them on FBs in the states. Not sure which car had them OE but I've seen them in both
