Female JZ Build; Project FC Resurrection
8 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone! I always loved the idea of building something from the ground up, and that's how I got interested in builds and doing one for myself. I spent every nice weather day this past summer seeing my boyfriends progress with his garage built 2JZ S13, and every day off work at local meets and events.
Said S13: Attachment 633970 So, a spontaneous decision and $1,250 led me to my 1988 FC. Non turbo, 5 Speed, 85k miles with one original owner (who happened to be an 80 year old woman..forever female owned.) and it's in pretty good condition. Only a few minor set backs..it had been parked for about 10 years, had a broken tail light, and a leaking sunroof. But a clean blank canvas with potential. Attachment 633971 No time wasted, got right to work. Being hopeful that it would start up ..i emptied the gas tank…which had about a half of a tank of 10 year old gas..(you could only imagine) and put a few gallons of 93. I took the battery from my boyfriends car and connected it since the car had no battery. The lights and radio went on and I was ecstatic.... Attachment 633972 But the excitement ended there, when it cranked aaaaand didn't start. Knowing from the beginning that I wanted to swap out the engine, I didn't want to spend too much money trying to get this thing running. So wishful thinking; taking the spark plugs and sanding off the corrosion..and finally a little starting fluid, it fired up! Not lasting very long, because it would only run on the starting fluid. The fuel pump was bad. I was still satisfied though. It wasn't worth the time for me to replace the fuel pump to actually get the 13b running so the teardown began. Attachment 633973 Right away I realized the blue interior was wet and musty from the leak in the sunroof & i wanted black interior anyway. So it had to come out. While I was in the process of removing the carpets, I found someone junking their totaled FC & made a good deal on the entire black interior for $200. So a 2 hour drive, and a little challenge packing the entire interior into an Audi TT..it was all mine :) [Attachment 633974 Attachment 633975 Then the real fun began.. Attachment 633976 And with a little TLC , the bay is now clean and good as new! Attachment 633977 So now all I'm doing is waiting for Christmas to pass so I can start putting money towards my engine! I'm still contemplating the decision between 1JZ, 1JZVVTI or 2JZ |
Why does it matter that you're a female; let your work speak for itself, not your sex. glhf

Yeah, I didn't think so either. It wouldn't even be worth the mention if some people didn't like to put irrelevant things in titles because they think it'll get more attention that way. Good job cleaning that engine bay though. It'll be interesting to see which engine you eventually stuff in it and why. It's always interesting to read about why people choose a certain motor for their swap.

You got the five lug chassis so that will save you some headache. What are you doing with the diff and are you going to upgrade the turbo?
