FC Nightmare

major sacrilegious moment at work. I feel so dirty. My next project arrived. Owner's wife said a customer was bringing in an RX7 thinking it has a rod knocking. My thoughts are the nice lady surely misunderstood something. Nope... This Mazda has been violated. It has a VG30. They yanked the rotary and put a Nissan 300zx na engine in the car and slapped a turbo on it. Sloppily installed microtec and oil pouring out the rear main. Lots of bad juju going on here.

You guys are sick. I can't believe you want to view this filth. I put the car on the lift. Then, I told my boss that I could not work on it since I did not have an umbrella due to all the oil dripping out. He was not amused.
So, drop the cradle as that is the only way to get the pan off. #3 rod journal has sloped wear / clearance ranging from 0.0030" - 0.0020". Spec is 0.0011" - 0.0019". While, not good, this is not the source of the knock.
I go to check #1. I can wiggle the rod end on the crank. This is definitely the knocker. Removed the cap and bearing was spun. Car owner wanted to bring another crank in and reassemble. Shop owner said otherwise.
I am unable to determine the exact cause of the spun bearing, but I think I have it narrowed down to paint flaking off from the inside of the oil pan clogging the oil filter or the oil cooler line almost being tightened to an aftermarket finger torque spec being used.
I will take pictures of this train wreck tomorrow.

Have not checked back on this in a while. The turbo is a T3, not sure of the specs. The owner is Carribean with no gold teeth. The car finally made it on to the dyno 2 days ago. It made 300 hp for a brief moment. Turbo coupling popped. The tuner did not believe me when I told him that I got off it at 6500 while making 14 lbs of boost. He does now as he got to see over 15 lbs. Wish this thing would go away before something else breaks and I have to fix it.
I will try to fix the picture issue
