Where to begin. When i worked at a drag race shop i put a 355 chevy into a s5 fc and had a very fast machine but was never satisfied. A lovely woman, kids, 2 houses and 5 years later im allowed to start playing again. The first shell i went to new york to pick up, it was a 87 t2 black with grey interior and some rust. I was gonna do a modest build and hit up the local road course. A couple of weeks ago i got ahold of a guy in West Virginia that had a 88 t2 sitting in his parents barn for 8 years and had to get rid of it due to the house being sold. I said screw it and my fiancee and a buddy of mine took the 3 hour journey to see what we could find. When i got there i was amazed. The body lines were all completely straight and a greddy front mount sticking out. Long story short i ended up with a whole lot of goodies for a humble price.
So begins the build, i took the ecu, harness, and manual rac out of the black fc and put the rac in the red fc. (Sold the black fc yesterday) I then began looking through the car and this is what i ended up with... Freshly rebuilt ported t2 motor with good compression I literally felt the petroleum jelly from install and saw the rotor housings freshly resurfaced, aka hopefully it doesnt blow up. ha ha fd manifold adapted for fc with greddy elbow 550s(supposively cleaned at rc)/1600sec. t04 turbo manifold 38mm tial wastegate greddy fmount and random piping act clutch haltech f10 w/dizzy(unsure of whether or not im gonna use this) koyo radiator electric fan hks fuel cut defender greddy t2 intake mani elbow random dpipes and exhaust top mounts autometer boost and air/fuel gauges t3/t4 knock off other stuff i cant recall So the body has no rust and underneath the car is also very clean. The one thing i found was the front bumper is not in top notch shape but oh well at this point. My plans are to run the fd manifold and figure out what stand alone i want to run (still researching either squirt, use haltech f10 with stock t2 ecu for ign/timing, or go ps1000 or power fc). I also just ordered a bw s360 8375 with a 90deg compressor outlet and 88a/r undivided turbine housing to go with my t4 manifold. My hopes are for 400whp. Also on the way are stance coilovers, innovate wideband, mazdatrix camber arm and e suspension bushing kit. In two weeks my fiancee is taking me to summit point on one of those ferrari est drive things and i am picking up a spare s4 t2 trans, act clutch, greddy bov, boost controller, solid mounts, maf and a few other misc items from my buddy around that way. Well thats enough damn typing, on to the pics. |

Box of goodies came in the mail today- stance coils, innovate wideband, bushing kit, and camber arm. Coils dissapointed me a little due to the normal rear rubbing of the shock housing but I got a good desk and it doesn't effect the drivability. Decided to run the squirt on this build so we will see how it goes.

Turbo came in today. Now I just need to figure out supply and drain. Probably go with 3 feed and 8 drain.

Been doin alot of research on megasquirt and my fuel set up. I have decided to replicate the fc3s system which is awesome. Very thankful someone made that for idiots like me. This weekend I am going to mock up my inter cooler piping and install the coils. Hopefully going to get this thing started befor November. Took some pics if the motor
Also decided to make a 10 an drain |

Here are some pics of the port job from whoever did the motor, i have no clue if they are good or not like i said the motor was basically free with all the stuff i picked up. Can anyone chime in and say if this is junk???
Also my fd manifold that came with the car has a beautiful adapter plate but the rails are hideous. I know im going to have to get a new secondary but can someone identify this primary please? If i can id like to tap the ends of it but i need to know what size they are first. Thanks |
Made a lot of progress today
Painted intake manifold Mocked down pipe and clocked turbo(little issue with no clearance but some tall aluminum motor mounts are on the way) Mocked up intercooler piping Figured out what I needed for feed and return lines Hacked up front bumper to for intercooler, oh yeAh Picks to come when I get home. Now the fun part, SPENDIN MONEY |
Pics of progress and of clearance on turbine

well...
block off plates, omp delete, 255 walbro, solid aluminum motor and trans mounts, boost controller, authentic greddy bov and the megasquirt came in the mail. I guess its time to get to work. I still need to locate some good wires and heatshrink so ill be hunting on waytek to see what they have. I may try radio shack but they were a bust for the 4 wire shielded cable so we will see. Pics to come this weekend. |
Any updates?

Just trying to build the squirt now and picked up a new welder I have been practicing getting used to so I can make the down pipe and exhaust. Will post pics soon

So I'm on the last leg of soldering together the ms. I have become efficient with my welder and have started cleaning up the body. I also found a great deal on a kit bc my front bumper is crashed. Hope to have it running by April. Lots of hours to put in
|
Any pics of the MS build? I was thinking about going that route and I was wondering how difficult it is.

MS build is tedious. I have worked as a tech at a german manufacturer dealership for over 8 years and i am used to fun electrical issues. This is something completely different, pcb work is time consuming and there is no rushing so if your good with that i would say go for it. Awesome support on the forum even for a guy like me that is extremely detail oriented.
I decided to remove the rear t2 spoiler and install the s5 tails so the rear end is a little cleaner. |

Finally feel comfortable enough to make my downpipe and exhaust. Not the most beautiful but it will do
|
Ups is on the way. I ordered all my gaskets, wiring and associated connectors for finishing the intake, fuel and ms. The air bleeds were expensive.

Megasquirt build is done, now I need to wire the car

Made some great progress today. I pulled the fuel tank and am going to take it work to clean it. I also mounted the turbo and manifold and later out the parallel fuel system. Omp delete is done and replaced fuel filter
|
Tested the squirt with a drill and a bit I made out of a fork and I have a great signal. So on to wiring

So I decided the purpose of my build is for road racing and started looking into driving school at Summit Point. I just ordered bc coilovers and square 17x9 mustang reps. Going to braze 6an fittings on my sending unit and run new feed and returns to my parallel feed system. Good thing I have been stocking up on spare 17 tires, I'll burn through the three sets I have before I order my nt05 255 40s.
Found this picture and lost it, so true |
