87 Base Build- Round 2
I figured I'd make a new build thread. My old one is in the drift section, and since I'm going a totally different direction with the build, that section doesn't really apply anymore.
So, here's the car when I first got it. Best(worst) $500 I ever spent.
Car had no interior, which was cool because it was going to be a racecar!...
I stripped the sound deadning out and got a Sparco seat, because race car. Oh yeah, and a super ghetto T2 swap.
Then I got Some BC coilovers and crown vic wheels and gave the car the shittiest paint job an rx7 has ever seen.
Decided I needed a life change, so I moved from FL to AZ. Somehow the car made it.
Having a 'track car" that you drive daily really sucks, so I got some interior to make it a little more cozy.
I drove the car to CA and on the way back my welded T2 diff gave out and my buddy had to drive 7 hours to come rescue me. It was around this time I started to realize that I was tired of having a shitty, ghetto rigged car that was terrible to drive. I started buying quality parts and doing things right. I got a Koyo rad to help with it running so hot, a used but good condition Racing Beat exhaust(old one was one solid welded together from the downpipe all the way out the back of the car), also got DCW camber and toe adjusters for the rear along with the Mazdatrix pillowball tie rods, along with some other things.
Fast forwarding a lot, I moved back to FL, parked the car and have been slaying away at bodywork and buying parts left and right to get it ready for a proper paint job. Going all S5, got a T2 lip and skirts, Shine Auto aero guards, and my prized possession that took me FOREVER to find and I spent WAY too much money on, my Yours Sport wing.
I'm also waiting on a set of RE-Amemiya mirrors to come in. Tried my buddy's on just too see how they would look.
Picked up a small sample of the paint to make sure it was the right color. I'm going with Noble Green aka Infini green. Finding a JDM color in the states is not easy. Had to cross reference the code and search for a while to finally find it.
So that's pretty much where I'm at now, Just taking my time and doing everything the right way, since I learned the hard way what happens when you do it the wrong way. I've also been piecing together some more stuff for the interior, got everything to install AC since it was all stripped out when I got the car, and I'll be keeping the Infini scheme going on the interior...

You did what you did due to experience, circumstance and preferences.
Those factors always change, so now you're redoing the project...the point isn't that you were "bad" then, it's that you're better now.
A trend that hopefully continues.

+10000 on not having a rigged car. I have had too many stripped out cars and even though I am cutting the weight on my rx7 since I am staying NA, I am keeping comfort in mind.
I dig the wing, but I think the RE mirrors don't really flow with the rest of the car. Just my opinion though. I like the direction this is headed!

Small update, decided to mount my skirts finally and figured I might as well straighten my pinch welds a bit while I was at it.
Keeping the factory them going; drilled the holes and used stock clips and screws on the skirts. Not sure how to mount the bottom under the door though. Some of the holes in the skirts line up with holes on the car, but the holes on the car are way too big.
