Project "Smurfette"

NO I did not choose that name..... That name was given to my car by my eldest daughter, who has also claimed the car once she gets her drivers license.

So I have had my car for a little over seven years, I have had many ups and downs with my build over the years. One very important thing I have learned over the years is "you get what you pay for!" So after going the cheap way, I have decided I will spend the money to get the job done right this final time. My car has spent too many days in my garage than on the road.

So the first thing I got done last year was a paint job. (I also went the cheap way the first time around.)

very beautiful car. What kind of wheels are her "daily shoes"?

simgabe 01-23-12 04:45 PM

Thanks man.The wheels are Watanabe RS8s. I bought them last year and had them sandblasted and powder coated.

Beautiful car! I love rs8s!

So here is my plan over tge winter. My last engine lost compression i on the last dyno session. I previously made 420 & 14psi in 2010 and went back in spring 2011 to turn up the boost when I lost compression on the rear housing. I took the back plate off to find that all my apex seal spring went flat. So the engine was still ok, but I was fed up of engine problems. So I went with an S6 engine this time around.

So far I have acquired
ENGINE-
A freshly rebuilt Street ported S6 engine
Cosmo re UIM & LIM (engine was port matched)
20B throttle body
Rotary works TB elbow
ACT lightened flywheel
ACT Clutch and pressure plate

ENGINE MANAGMENT
Platinum sport 1000
Full function engineering trigger kit

FUEL
Brand new OEM gas tank
Custom surge tank
Bosch 044 fuel pump
Injector dynamics 2000cc secondary injectors
Injector dynamics 1000cc primary injectors
Aeromotive FPR

FORCED INDUCTION SETUP
Borg Warner S366
Custom exhaust manifold
Dual tial wastegates
Tial BOV
FMIC
Custom 3" DP/ exhaust

SUSPENSION
Re speed Coilover kit
Re speed Camber plates
Full poly bushing upgrade front to back.

That's all I can think of now
I will update with pics as I go along.

Thanks for the compliments!

Looks great, I'm hoping mine will come out simmular! Any chance of some hi-res pics??

simgabe 01-25-12 06:56 PM

Thanks again for the compliments on the color.

Adsy01- once I complete the engine bay and spring comes around, I have a friend who is gonna do a photo shoot for me.

twinkletoes 01-26-12 09:27 PM

I wouldnt give the car to my daughter if it had that engine setup... lol

simgabe 02-13-12 08:23 AM

Ok, so I brought my car out of storage and back home to start work.
Since my last post, I have contacted "Gato performance" and they will be building me a custom exhaust manifold with dual wastegate mounting points.:)
He told me with morning the manifold should be done by Friday and shipped out.
Lots of pics of progress are on the way.

so here is my dirty engine bay
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/AE0D2F56.jpg
my plan here is to clean up the engine bay, and have it repainted satin black.
Here is the engine bay after round one of degreasing, scrubbing, scrubbing and more scrubbing.

I cant believe how much crap i have gotten off and I am not even done yet.

simgabe 02-17-12 07:21 PM

simgabe 02-17-12 08:11 PM

After
I had the clutch completely rebuilt
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/BD0DD614.jpg
I got the flywheel resurfaced
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/r...t/7AFBF50C.jpg
I had the pressure plate fully rebuilt as well, I even had it upgraded from 1500lbs to 2200lbs

Nice dude I would recomend to paint the engine bay with por15 and then semi gloss black instead of satin just because satin is extremelly difficult to keep clean just my .02 cents.

simgabe 02-18-12 08:08 AM

ROTARYCRAZY- I like your idea, heaven knows I don't want to scrub my engine bay again. I will try and find a dealer for the POR 15, I have not seen that stuff anywhere. I'll talk to my painter and ask him for some paint swatches showing me semi gloss black.
The engine bay should be ready to paint early next week.

JDK 02-18-12 08:26 AM

Looks great Gabe....

This shit is the bomb

simgabe 02-18-12 09:37 AM

JIM- it will even look better with its new "heart" lol

simgabe 02-18-12 09:54 AM

With regards to the POR15, I have read it can be sprayed on and reduced no more than 5%.
Can you use a regular automotive spray gun? Anyone have any experience in this area?

Thanks

rotarycrazy 02-18-12 03:38 PM

What I did was found a set on ebay it came with the cleaners and all neded for it I can't reamember how much it was but I did myne with a brush you can reduce it and still brush it on it will almost level itself out. Once its dry you can hit it with some 220 and 450 sand paper and paint over that. FIY wear gloves using this stuff or it will not come off your hands for weeks. But once you do that you won't have worry about your engine bay rusting ever again

simgabe 02-18-12 04:15 PM

Apparently with the POR15, the dealer told me there are certain nozzles, tips, (cant remember) that I can buy for the paint gun to spray it on. I am getting a quart of semi gloss, I will see what it looks like when it dries and if I like it I may just leave it. If not I will go over it with an automotive two part semi gloss. Pics will be up next week.
I am also getting back my parts from the powder coating shop. I went with "satin black" for the UIM and LIM. for all the other accessories I went with a color called "Silver Vein"
I had originally wanted to go with "Dormant Purple" but it was gonna cost me way more to get it done as its a two stage powder coating job.
Cant wait!
