Lifting the front of the car...

Hi Folks,

Getting ready to lift the front of the car. The back is on axle mounted jacks. Curious if I can lift the car from the engine mount bracket? Would hate to lift on it only to have a catastrophic failure. Will be putting jacks underneath the right and left sides of the vehicle with the engine remaining in the car.

Advise on doing this, lifting the car in all four corners, correctly.

Cheers

Right or wrong, I shove a trolly jack with a block of wood on it under the engine crossmember, and then jack stands either side of said crossmember.

I've always put jacks under any vehicle on the frame rails, (if possible). If frame rails aren't possible just make sure the point you rest the car on, is stable, secure and won't damage anything.....

I also use a wood block and floor jack on the frame cross member. be careful the block is on the cross member and not the oil pan. After it's up, I place jack stands on the frame rails. I then let the floor jack down until the wright is on the stands. I leave the floor jack under the cross member as a safety measure if it's not in the way. You can also use ramps or spare wheels under the tires. As a note, if you have old Harbor Freight jack stands check in numbers. They had a massive safety recall.
