nothing crazy, mild port, microtech, hopefully like 300hp

another pic before final suspension work, have to move the rear end half inch to the left, the great thing og th e panhard adjustibility

84stock 10-25-09 11:57 AM

very nice, and a reliable 300hp is great. I just thank god it didn't have a stock 12a under the hood.

Dan_s_young 10-25-09 11:59 AM

Awesome, I believe we are the only guys on this forum with turbo widebody first gens now? Should be awesome when it's done. I need to get my microtech tuned and finish some electrical, exhaust and then mine will be on the road.

Your interior looks like it has undergone basically the same transformation as mine from red to grey. A bunch of work but worth it!

food7373 10-25-09 04:03 PM

very nice

solid roof

Thinking about having the bodyshop weld a solid roof from a GS I have as i dont like the sunroof.

The metal is thin so its tricky i heard

You have any side shots of the car. Really interested in the wheels. Good looking car!

Heres how mine is, note the spacer nut between the two mounts I took off after because it caused my driveshaft to bind due to the angle. Works perfectly, shifter sits back maybe 0.5-1.0" further than stock.

rear end

Dan, i think i saw you are running a ford rear end from prior posts, i have the SE rear end hopefully it holds up.

I know dead stop launches will kill the rear end as i have ccw 17-12 like you. But I highly rec the panhard, as my rear end shifted alot going up embarkments,

i will try to dig up some pics of a car similiar to yours that was built in the 80's here in miami the guy poored like 30--40k in the car ,wild, it was black same flair kit as yours custome red interior, full race car for the street

Dan_s_young 10-25-09 11:05 PM

Very cool, I would be very interested in seeing that. With the ford rear end (8.8) I am using full adjustable heim links, and everything is very stiff and I cant really see the rear end shifting much.

I agree with you about the launching, i'm now mostly afraid of the transmission blowing up. I have a scattershield just in case for the clutch, with the exception of the engine the trans are the most likely part to fail in my situation. TII transmissions are pretty easy to locate for me at the moment but if I keep having issues I may goto a ford T5.

Basically when it goes build it better and stronger and go from there!

Nope but 2 of a LIMITED #

MAJOR modification, but I hope this counts in your category of "widebody"

I guess there is Steve as well, fair to say one of 10 or so.

twinkletoes 10-26-09 02:56 AM

Very nice! Interested in what wheels you have also? I wan't to see someone build a white widebody! Maybe i'll have to do it. White IMSA body, CCW Classics, and a turbo 13b...:aroused:

mazdaverx713b 10-26-09 05:16 AM

its nice to see the car coming together! it really looks nice and i'm sure after its painted it'll look a million times nicer! what color did you decide on?

Kentetsu 10-26-09 11:47 AM

Very nice build! :)

rotarydude 10-26-09 05:28 PM

Although it is not turbo'd, Billy Waits old Re-Speed widebody now has forced induction. My wife isn't afraid of it either so it doesn't just sit in the garage. He did the whole rear end with adj heim joints and I agree with Dan's assessment it doesn't shift that much and is very stiff. It will be a bitch for me to drive it across country to 7-stock but i will get over it

Yikes! I'm not sure what kind of body that is. Rice bowl with chrome maybe?

takhay 10-26-09 08:53 PM

Is that the Mariah GTU kit or some other one and are those rear flares just the standard ones that come with the kit?

Norwegian_rotary 10-27-09 05:08 PM

I guess you can call the bodykit on my first gen for a widebody as well? and i got a turbo, dont i count? :P
