Classic FB track car build

Here are details on my FB track day car, I have had this car since 1988, other than engine work, critical safety welding (roll cage reinf, suspension welds, exhaust welding), all mods done by me:

30 hours since refresh, carbon apex seals, housings and irons in excellent shape. New Weber jetted on dyno. Attached plot shows 186 rwhp, 131 rwtq on conservative Mustang dyno with great AFR throughout RPM range

Also has:

2nd gen aluminum water pump housing, 2nd gen alternator, locked race distributor with dual MSD 6AL2, race oiling mods, plus oil pan baffle,5.5 in twin disk PTT clutch with MazdaTrix aluminum flywheel, Mazda full height race radiator by Ron Davis, GSL-SE oil cooler.

1982 RX-7 full race prep track day chassis, fiberglass SCCA front airdam Dzus fasteners, fiberglass spoiler. Only stock parts are: windows, wipers, headlights and tailights.

2017 big bore short struts with Koni inserts by TechnoToyTuning, 2016 new lower control arms with roll center spacers,Ground Control caster/camber plates, rear suspension has panhard rod and tri-link by G-Force Engineering, big bearing front hubs and rear axle (1985 version), brake ducting, carbotech pads, AutoPower roll cage with side nets, Ultrashield seats with seatback braces, 6 pt harnesses, driver harness current, helmet air cooler, left and right side driver nets, Fuel Safe fuel cell, new foam insert 2014, Firesystem plus separate driver side fire bottle, dash gutted with full rewire using Longacre switch panel, plus full gauges including wideband airfuel meter. OEM cluster also functional. Recently installed inertia switch from Pegasus Racing to cut fuel pump power in case of hard impact.

Nice work, solid track car all around. Question: in undercar pic, there are a pair of zip ties on the lower parts of both rear shocks that appear to be keeping something attached to shock body? Suspension limiting cable?

Yes - suspension limiting cable - keeps axle from dropping so low that shorter rear springs fall out, also helps when up on jack stands

Old CP Racing (defunct Canadian firm) brace, modified to be able to remove center section to make things easier when pulling engine out. Before I had to remove the whole brace to pull engine

Thumbs up Street Version - EP

I love your track car, I am building the same street version or RestroMod for the street. Keeping exterior as stock as possible but everything else is EP+ stuff. Just retired and it's my retirement engineering project. FB RX-7 out!

Glad to hear that you still have the car! How has it been performing over the last few years? Any additions to the car?

Thanks! I no longer do track days so I sold the car. Went to a good home and the new owner has been competitive in vintage races
