Hello fellas hope im posting in the right spot, i have my 81 rx on kijiji and i have a buyer for it , so i went to boost it up today and like a real bonehead i put positive to positive:blush: ......ya i know dumb ass move it was dark and i was rushing. so now the car has no juice to the key!the headlights still turn on though so it is getting some power.

Does anyone know what fuse to be looking for and where if thats all it is?:scratch::scratch::scratch:
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't know if they have fusible links then or fuses but either way check them. Hooking up the jumper cables backwards can fry the alternator but your car should still start if that's the case unless the alternator is shorted which I doubt.

On my '84, the fusible links are by the battery.
I stole this pic from this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-293/my-light-beige-gsl-se-restomod-build-924632/

See the part next to the strut tower on the left and to the right of the coils? That's where the fusible links are if your car has them.

DO NOT CHEAT, go to a pick and pull if you need them, cheating by using a jumper wire could make a minor issue a major problem, unless you enjoy changing wiring harnesses.

I've been pocketing the links for years when I go to a yard. I think I have ten in my glove box but I would much prefer fuses.
Thank you!

Do the 81's have the "other two" fuse links like the SA's do, in addition to the ones on the strut tower?

One on the starter solenoid, & one under the steering column?
