The car is in desperate need of pillow balls and bushings. So far the lowest I have been quoted is 3500 for a full respray, including the jambs. I have one other avenue I am going to try. I am going to prep the car myself, purchase the paint, and take it to a friend and see what kind of a deal I can get. I am trying to at least have it ready so I can make it to DGRR this year. |
In all honesty i have had good luck with MAACO i had my old mustang paint there and my Z28 it was 1200 for both jobs and they needed work done (Z28 was a complete colour change so they did the jams and hatch and such as well) i bet if you have prepped it yourself and they just spray it, it would turn out nice but it also depends on how good the painter is just my expierence but either way good luck!

Aren't you suppose to have a battery seal case if you relocate your battery inside the car, or do you need a sealed battery? :s

I copied the moconner write-up nearly to a T, and he has a sealed battery that ins't a box. I'm not seeing what the problem is, if one even exists?

Ideally I'd like to have a street port, GT35R, maybe 16-18 psi with AI. Nothing insane, all things that have been done before. Just want a solid and decently quick street car. |
Picture I forgot to add. I got this shifter plate/boot from a guy over on norotors. He makes them the swap guys since they notch the front portion of the transmission tunnel to fit a T56. I notched mine just to make getting to the front shifter bolts a bit easier. I believe I am the first to utilize one of these with the stock transmission, and it fits perfectly. Very high quality piece, and if I'm not mistaken around the same price, if not a bit cheaper than the factor cover. If anyone else is interested, I can let him know and perhaps he can come here to get a vendor account and start a group buy.

Have most of the interior back together. Had a speaker box built last weekend. Just trying to get some money together to tie up some loose ends. Have a few estimates for paint. Just trying to save up so I can get this thing looking at least decent for the time being.
Also, finally got a PFC and got it all set up. Car runs crazy awesome now. Idle is perfect, no more hiccups at idle, and just overall pulls really hard. |
I am curious as to what you did to restore or clean up the factory plastics and trim on the inside. Yours look great and mine look like complete crap. Please share what you did to them besides swap them out with the donor interior?? Mostly of course the trim around the heat/ac knobs and shifter plastics......Great work thus far!

First, I used a scotch brite green pad soaked in some Sure Solv:
http://www.tekmaterial.com/tekonline...1622-large.jpg That was to get the original rubber coating off. I assume any adhesive remover would work. Then I went over that with 600 grit sand paper, then over that with 1000 grit sandpaper, then one last time with 1500 wet sand paper. Rub the panel down with some alcohol, then go over with a tack cloth (not really necessary). Spray 2 light coats of Duplicolor sandable primer. then spray with two coats of Duplicolor bumper coating. Viola! New panels. The bumper coating has a really nice low gloss finish to it, its rather resilient, and has a bit of flexibility to it. Overall, I'm happy with the results. Let me know if you need help with anything else. |
