Time to come back to this thread.

I lost a seal on the front rotor just before summer had started up. I had swapped out the wastegate springs up to 5lbs and went out to do some more logging. Car drove great and boost seemed consistent holding right around 5-6lbs in 1st and 2nd gear. I did a 3rd gear pull for the first time and boost had creeped up to about 9lbs rather quickly. That's when it went.

I limped the car home running on 1 rotor and let the car cool down before diagnosing. Map sensor line was solid, pulled all the plugs and everything looked normal upon inspection.

Compression test on the rear resulted in 90,90,90
Front rotor 0,30,0

I wasn’t upset by any means, in fact I was happy to have a reason to build the engine for the first time ever. I was planning on purchasing and building a second engine to drop in whenever this engine went, since this one had been tired for a while.

I started tearing down the car again, once when I took off the wastegates, I found the piece of apex seal that went.

I disassembled the wastegates to have coated and noticed the gate I ran for the front runner had a pinched diaphragm. I believe this to be the cause of overboosting the front rotor and seeing such a huge creep.

Disassembled the long block over the weekend and had already ordered a set of E&J Apex Seals. Also had the turbo system disassembled ready to send off for ceramic coating, brackets, ducting, FPR, water housing, water pump and pulleys powder coated by Tirado Custom Coatings in San Antonio. Here is the end result

For the engine, I went to my friend BDC. Resurfaced housings, dowel pinned, half-bridgeport.

This past weekend, I've ordered an Exedy Twin Disc Clutch, and FFE Primary Rail with ID2000s to add to the car

coatings look great! that wrinkle paint is going to flake off of those wastegates almost immediately though. it's so close to those exhaust runners that it might actually burn.

Yeah, it is closer than I'd like and it probably will a bit haha I'm not too concerned since its hardly visible once on the car

I always have too, which is why I went to him :) Thanks, Aaron! Your build has always been an inspiration to keep going with mine. I got a short video of you doing a flyby at Seven Stock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMux...ature=youtu.be

A few updates, I'm working on getting the car done by TX2K15 this coming March so I'll be updating this thread more often in the coming months.

Had a buddy weld shut useless vacuum ports, double throttle plate holes, and block off plates on the UIM to lessen possible chances of vacuum leaks. Still have some porting to do to the UIM, but here is how its coming

Flex fuel sensor on the way, I still need to finish building the fuel system for E85, so have yet to do all of the fuel lines and fittings. I'll probably picking the engine up soon in the coming week, so it'll be balls to the wall working on getting it back together.

Nice build. What A/R is the turbine housing? Would like to see the power curve when you get it tuned.

Thank you! It's a 1.00 A/R. A little small for this setup, but I think it will provide great spool and a strong power band throughout the mid-range.
