Missed out on the Japanese Super Car Cruise, but ended up at a local VW show. Some pretty cool stuff there!

Fiddling with some small stuff.

Replaced the alternator bolt and nut with shiny new (PN n39015966, 999400800g)

Replaced the brake booster vacuum hoses (PN fd0143836b, fd0143640b)

Found a tear in my upper IC hose. Got a new on from tomsn16 (support your friendly forum reseller!)

Replaced the AC dryer bolts. They're supposed to be black, but the black bolts are NLA from mazda. Might change them out for generic later.
Knocked off some of the powdercoat on the dryer Will need to POR15 it I guess

The AST hose clips didn't survive the support bar swap, changed those out (PN f20115388a)

Looking better and better.

Put a new hood insulator and clips on today. Some more parts are in the mail from Ray Crowe, Jim Ellis Mazda, and tomsn16. Gonna find a day to strip and repaint all the spring clamps. Hopefully this weekend. More (cooler) pics and parts soon.

if you are going complete OCD, you need to do something about the UIM, TB, and alternator. A cheap soda blaster will do wonders.

And what kind of car town do you live in.

I stay in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lots of cool cars around here. Almost too many. Like fish in a barrel.
And, I would love to get the alternator and manifold blasted. Not sure when I'll fit that in, but it's on the big list.

Here are some before/after shots of the hood insulator. Bad lighting in the new shot, but you get the idea. Much easier on the OCD.

Since it's an awkward item I didn't trust to a shipping company, I picked it up from my local dealer for about $250.

Picked up a new AGM battery, in the hope that there is less risk of leaking and caustic fumes which might corrode shiny parts.
Replaced the battery tie with a super racing PWD JDM tie, because racecar.
The one that comes with the tray is a little thin, and it's too easy to over-tighten it and damage the battery case.
The PWD JDM unit is nice and wide, and the black finish blends in nicely.

Hopefully gmonsen approves of the color change

You have done it now!
Engine bays are a slippery slope. Replace something and it starts pointing directly to the things you didn't.

Thanks folks. Sometimes my 3yo son rides shotgun in a car seat, but the placard is just for fun.

I ordered direct: Password:JDM Battery Tie Down 88+ Civic / 94+ Integra / 00+ S2000

51R is a common honda battery size, so there are lots of aftermarket options out there on amazon, google, ebay etc.

For some reason every FD I've owned has been Montego Blue. I guess it was meant to be. I like white, black, and silver too.

I'm enjoying the wingless/wiperless back end. Sometimes I like the stock wings. They do make it easier to open the hatch.

Cars doing well in the summer heat. Had a chance to drive it more than usual. There are some more small nit picky things I'd like to fix and a few big things I'd like to do, but no rush (no budget ).

Might be old news, but I haven't seen your thread in a while. On the battery hold down, I have a similar 51r battery brace that I got off Ebay a while back.

The stock J-bolts are a little too long, you can get NA Miata J-bolts from Mazda, they're fairly cheap and shorter. You can always cut the stock ones but the ends will eventually rust and look crappy.

Looking' good my man!
