what do you think about the wider front tires?
I'm currently running 285/30/18 hankook td all around on my track fd, but i'm thinking of changing the front to 265/35/18, to have better braking and turnin feel.
Also i'm very curious what kind of alignment setting you are using?

From my limited experience the 265/35-18 will have better "feel" than the 285/30-18 on the 18x10.5 in the Hankook Ventus TD.
The Ventus TD has kind of a soft sidewall and rounded carcass profile, so the slight "stretch" flattens out the tread and puts some needed tension on the sidewall.
I went from Ventus TD to Toyo R888 on my 295/30-18 on 18x11 set-up and even though the 295 R888 is much wider than the 295 Ventus TD the R888 was a much more precise, better feeling tire with a very stiff sidewall. Of course the R888 was also much slower with less grip than the Ventus TD.
Now I am on 285/30-18 BFG R1S on the 18x11 and that tire is the king of slop making the old Ventus TD feel precise. But damn, its fast!

that's great information, thanks !
I'm thinking of switching to RE71R for the next set, maybe i'll give the 285/30 all around another try, the RE71R should have a much stiffer sidewall.
Blue, how many track days does your R1 last? More or less than the TD soft?

I only auto-x, kart track sprint and hillclimb- no track.
The R1S seems to wear faster than the Ventus TD. You leave much more visible rubber on the asphalt with it and R1S comes up to heat much faster.
I think R1S would overheat and grease out on the track for anything but a single time attack lap. I have no experience with R1 which is the track compound.

Try to run more offset wheel on ur car
Like from +20 to +40 above the wheel center more close to ur steering pivot point will give u more feel on steering
I will not reduce my tire width unless the rule say so
My alignment set up this time
Front 0toe
Rear. +.3toe in
Camber front -3.5 rear -4
