Michael's - 30 something year old 1994 Rx7 build
First off thank you to you all for sharing your knowledge!
Like many of you here, I grew up loving the lines of the 3rd generation Rx-7. In high school I had a 1990 white FC convertible which I thoroughly enjoyed, but had always wanted a FD. I've been looking for a lower mileage CW 94-95 for a while and in the past six years there were 2 that I considered buying but for various reasons the timing just wasn't right on those deals. Last month I was finally able to add a lower mileage (24,140) 1994 originally Chaste White Rx-7. I picked her up from Arizona and trailered her home to California.
History:
Car was originally purchased in Wisconsin
The car was then sold to the owner, who sold it to me, he trailered it from WI to AZ . Car was in Arizona from 1999-2018
The previous owner did a custom pearl white paint job on it in 2000 (still in pretty good condition, but not a fan of the pearl)
PFS intercooler
Pettit intake
cat-back exhaust system
enkei wheels
Tein suspension
brake rotors
I brought back home the original wheels/tires and intake, mud guards, OEM parts with the car. Before purchasing, I had the compression tested (4/2018) to make sure that the engine appeared healthy since it didn't have too much use on it. Readings were between 126-129 psi. The car shows error code 16, but the EGR valve itself appears to be working according to Mazda and that the position switch can be replaced.
Current plans:
99 spec exterior/lights
repaint car either CW or Pure White, still deciding
FEED style side steps
HID kit from Sake Bomb
Racing Beat exhaust
BBS RGRs in diamond black
I want to keep the car looking relatively stock (for 99 spec). I don't really care about going fast as much as when I was younger. Do not wish to draw unwanted attention from law enforcement. Basically want to enjoy walking past her every morning in the garage (enjoy the beauty of the Rx-7), to turn on every time I turn the ignition, and to enjoy on weekend drives. Still deciding if I want to add front fender turn markers and if I want to try and add some Spirit R seats.
The day I picked her up and the next day bringing her home

First group of parts arrived before the car did.
From Rx7.com Ari was very helpful with the purchase:
99 Spec front bumper cover
99 Spec front bumper reinforcement bar
99 spec front lip (will leave unpainted)
99 spec lower front brake duct (L/R)
99 spec front combination lights (L/R)/wiring harness
99 spec adjustable rear wing
Efiini emblems (I like the look of the Efini logo better, but may end up ordering some flying M to put on, not decided yet)
So Far I have only installed the rear tail lights from this, waiting to paint the car (leaning towards Pure White) before installing the rest of this batch

Next group of parts ordered were the Racing Beat dual tip exhaust from Heath at Sake Bomb and a HID kit that I am in line for to be built. Heath was also very helpful in answering questions for me. Yesterday I had some time to uninstall the previous cat-back system and install the RB. So if anyone is interested in a single tip cat-back system I have the previous one uninstalled right now that I have no use for.

thanks
Also waiting to be installed (likely when being painted as well, although not painting this part). FEED style side steps from Patrick at the Shine Auto Project. Awaiting RGRs that were ordered from BBS USA through BBS Japan, have arrived stateside, awaiting shipment from BBS USA. Looking at tire choices right now.

and I really was interested in this one, but more in the 35-40 range. I also prefer the black interior to the tan and wasn't able to as easily travel to NY to see.

The one I ended up getting I totally agree that the pictures listed didn't do it justice and maybe that's why it didn't sell last year when the ad was listed. I went to go check the car out in the beginning of February as I was out in AZ. I at the time still was not sure if I could bring an out of state car back into CA, so when I saw that the car appeared to be the real deal I kept doing research and found out that you could bring it into CA. So when I went back out to AZ on my next trip there I completed the deal. I am also looking forward to the wheels being installed.

18x8.5 +48
I was considering a few different sizes/offsets. (18x8.5 +43 up front 18x9.5 +45 rear or 18x8.5 +43 square).
Ultimately settled on the 18x8.5 +48 square as they were close to same offset as Spirit R (+50), but 18s instead of 17s and could run square and look stock-ish. Those were also in stock and could be air shipped versus waiting until they made me some new +43s/+45s and boat ship them. Would love to have mazda center caps

Dropped off the car last week to get painted Mazda pure white. Getting the 99 front bumper/lip/lights/brake ducts/rear spoiler and shine auto project FEED style side steps installed. Leaving the front lip and side steps black. Currently debating on whether to have the JDM fender side markers installed or not while fenders are off and being painted. I keep going back and forth, it's definitely cleaner without them installed, but part of me thinks it balances out the car by giving the eye something to look at in the middle area and also creates a line from the front to the rear spoiler.
Recent items purchased JDM Y-pipe and Spirit R shift **** and awaiting arrival. Will be placing tire orders soon so that wheels can go on once she gets back from paint. Also thinking of getting brake calipers powder coated red while I keep my eyes open for some Spirit R brakes.

Really a pretty car. Like Blue TII said, the pearl white really looks good. So much better than the Chaste White. I know you said you think there's too much brown in it and it's your car, but I wouldn't touch the paint.

Given that a fairly stock CW with good paint and lower miles is probably worth $45-50,000... I hope you at least repainted it CW?

Picked up the car today from the shop. Extremely happy with the look of it, so glad it's pure white instead of the pearl. It's a cool realization when the desktop wallpaper that you had when you were younger is a car you drive now. Anyway, side fender markers were added, 99 front lights/wiring harness, bumper, rebar, lip, brake ducts, wing, mazda tribute windshield spray nozzles, and shine auto project FEED style skirts added. 99 spec badges also added. New rubber glass/window moldings placed. Rear mud flaps installed. Plan to get paint ceramic coated and wheels/tires put on in the next week or so, tires come in tomorrow. In the mean time some pics of the process. Also received DMV notice today that personalized plates are ready for pickup!

Wheels are on. Trying to figure out center cap solution still. I have the flying M pieces that I can place onto painted BBS caps, place the BBS caps that the wheels came with or try and figure out a more durable solution. Next step is ceramic paint coating, will take some photos after that.
