The Build 2016
 

Unfortunately most of the links in my old build thread are broken due to photo upload sites so I am starting fresh.

This is where I left off before chipping an apex seal :(

Of course the heart of the build is the engine. After chipping an apex seal with very low miles on the engine it was time for my first rotary rebuild and improve on areas which may be potential points of failure.

My build is and has always been about overall balance, not big whp numbers so in if I was in US, Australia or Japan where plenty of rotary tuners exist I could've gone for OEM apex seals but I used E&J (ALS) seals instead for their strength (probably in exchange for some housing wear).

Who doesn't like the sound of a ported rotary engine :D I just had to do it :nod: We've done a large streetport and polish but can't comment on it until I drive my car.

During this build there will be some visual changes. One of those is the engine bay theme. I am over the chrome/polished look so most of the parts are getting powder coated to black.

Clean car and was digging the chrome polished look on the engine bay.

And smart man for putting a metal tray under the engine stand. Darn engine parts like to pop out during disassemble process.

Looks like a really nice car and I like the matte black powdercoating.
I'm surprised you arent planning some type of water methanol auxiliary injection system.

Actually I already have an AEM water/meth kit but forgot to mention it. That was an old list so I just wrote etc. in the end :blush: There are other mods like Pioneer/Helix/Match sound system, red seatbelts, battery relocation, Odyssey PC925 battery, Pineapple Racing idler pulley, Nardi/Personal steering wheel, Works Bell steering hub, Maxigauges multi display, AEM gauges, HKS air filter, Aeromotive FPR, external fuel filter, custom 3.5" to 3" exhaust system with HKS muffler, and more. I should do a detailed list once all the modding is finished but it never does lol :D

Man your car is perfect. Porting looks very clean as well. I can't imagine the perseverance it takes to build one of these cars in an area without proper support, we are definitely spoiled in the US.

I'm glad to hear it. Such a nice car. Aux Injection seems to be the secret sauce that makes it all work. Look forward to your progress. Keep the build updated for us!

The effort, the patience, the cost and the dedication it takes and the frustration that comes with it is unbelievable but so is the joy of owning and driving the only rotary FD3S in the whole country! I will keep swimming against the tide ;)

Are you serious that there is only one FD in Turkey??? That's insane. I know Greece and Cyprus have a "decent" amount of FD's. In Croatia we have a total of 4. One is mine and has papers, my friend has two, one is a track only car with no papers. And the 4th one has been sitting in a garage for 15 years covered in dust also has no papers.

You understand the joys of owning a rotary powered vehicle in a country that has no rotary specialists...the struggle is real!!! :burn:

Well in total there are 3 FD3S incl. mine in the country of 70 million BUT mine is the only one with a 13b rotary engine and again mine is the only one which is in genuine and clean condition inside and out. Owners of the other two had no rotary passion or experience and they couldn't deal with the rotary issues so one installed a 2JZ engine and the other one installed a LS engine. And this number will not change anytime soon because the law says you can not import cars older than 3 years old ;)

And yes the struggle is real :burn: Just sending paperwork to DHL as we speak to clear my Xcessive LIM from customs on my behalf which will end up costing me like $1000 (actual value $525). And just today I received the sparks plugs that I ordered from Rock Auto on December 2015!!! Everything either costs double or comes with delay, maybe I should call it Project Xanax :lol:

Yeah I feel you. Once I ordered a $300 RE Amemiya part from RHDJapan to Croatia...paid almost $200 to customs. Its complete B.S. And they include the shipping costs in the customs value...so lame.

If you have someone in the US you could for example order the Xcessive manifold to their US address and then have them ship it it out with no invoice and marked as used. Its easier to bypass customs if the package is sent from a private person rather than directly from a business. Thats how I do it sometimes.
