This is the FD that just won SSM at the SCCA Solo Nationals last month...the current SSM (SUPER STREET MODIFIED) National Champion. Must be pretty fast to beat the 3-rotor from Texas and a host of very fast 2-rotors. Wonder how I know all this LOL.

Didn't he also win by almost 2 seconds?

Wow! This is why I haven't touched SSM since it converted from SM2! Even though I would have had Erik to contend with (not that I had a snowball's chance in hell back then).
Congrats on the Nationals win! Out of curiosity, what did you find better: the NASCAR or GT wing? |

Engine pic per your request.
Attachment 695689 I did some quick back to back testing at one event and I felt that the GT type wing was more beneficial than the NASCAR type. I enjoy the light weight of the NASCAR type but I just went with what works. |
sick

MORE PICS!!! What other "custom" parts have you made for her?
|
Great build. Thanks for the pictures.

A good starting place

When I started the project my first order of business was to make the car handle as good as possible. I left the engine alone for now so I could get it to the race track with out any other issues stopping me from learning how the drive the car. One of my challenges was to fit 18x11" wheels up front with out making the car too wide. I fabricated these upper control arms so I could get the camber I wanted and the clearance for the wheels I could also turn lock to lock with out rubbing. Also I have added pictures of the lower control arm where I fitted a spherical bearing so I could adjust my roll center. You are able to view the Koni 28's and tri point front sway bar in these pictures too. |
How were you able to put the spherical bearing in the lower control arm? That is an awesome mod! and I would love to do it to my track car too!
|
I would love more info on the control arms.
|
I think another product from HPP is needed to be added to the GB interest! :-P What say thee? LOL

All suspension stock bushings replaced with spherical bearings using custom made sleeves and spacers....see pic.
Front LCA ball joints were removed and the bore machined to accept a spherical. Could be an HPP product someday but we doubt the demand would allow a reasonable price......our one-off spherical conversion was very expensive. |

The addition of all spherical bearings was one of the first modifications I made and one of the most that I am proud of. Over all it took over 6 months of going back and forth to the machine shop and drawing board to come up with a final design. Also in the pictures below you will notice a tapered ball joint stud. I first used this type of stud as all the dirt racers do but I did not torque the nut properly and had a catastrophic failure. You can notice in some of my racing pics that the driver fender does not look as good as in other pictures. I am now using AN bolts that have been holding up very well for over two years and running. |
Thanks to C.Ludwig we got this great write up from Haltech.

crazy car! *thumbs up*
Can you give some infos on your electrical power steering setup? |
Wow the suspension fabrications are simply amazing.
|
Do you have your interior or would that put you out of class? Role cage same issue right?
Was there a noticeable improvement with the wing at auto-x speeds? Fantastic car great job! |
the fab work that went into thos bushing is amazing.
NEED MOAR NOW!!!!! |

Was there a noticeable improvement with the wing at auto-x speeds? Fantastic car great job! Per SCCA SSM rules we have to retain the full interior with some modifications allowed such as Race seats and steering wheel. We also can remove the Airbag components and stereo. Also we are allowed to install roll cages. Don't quote me on the above, you can find all the rules on the SCCA web site. The wing does make a huge difference at Auto-X speeds. I was a big dis believer but I did back to back testing using the Spoiler vs. wing vs. nothing and the Wing was better at keeping the car planted on transitions. Also I do like the spoiler I had but and it worked very well too. |

Off season (Winter) maintenance is underway and here are some pics of our little turbo setup and the short runner manifold Carter fabed.
|
Got any dyno charts for that turbo setup? How's the .78 t3 pull up top? Spool rules.
