About time to post....

12 Attachment(s)
Well I think it is time to start a proper build thread plus it will give me the nudge I need to finish it! I have owned my car for over 10 years now and its been the most frustrating and exciting project I have ever had. With friends owning Subarus, Skylines, Evos and other RX7s over the years, there are not many of us left in our Norfolk (in the UK) who have still got the cars we joined a small car club with.

As you can see from the pics above there are a few mods but the car looked like this...
From one of my first car show visits at Santa Pod (drag strip in the UK) with my late Father (one of the reasons why I still have this car)
Attachment 617261
Then some from a car park shoot....
Attachment 617262
Attachment 617263
I went down the usual route of upgraded SMIC, HKS Induction kit, Apexi Power FC, 850 primaries
Attachment 617264
with a smattering of interior 'tartiness' comprised of some Momo, Feed, Blitz and Apexi goodies.
Attachment 617265
When I got the car it also had the seats retrimmed in leather and grey alacantra which was nice...
Attachment 617266

Following my magpie nature of anything genuine JDM I managed to find someone on a UK forum selling some CE28s (one of my favourite wheels) which I had to have...
Attachment 617267
After fitting some secondhand (there is a pattern) Buddyclub coilovers mixed with the Japanese tyres on the CE28s the ride was brutal.
Attachment 617268
I did my first proper trackday at Snetterton
Attachment 617269
Attachment 617270
Attachment 617271
But it taught me how quick the car actually was and how good the tyres were and how good the incredibly hard suspension was on the track!

Got a Scoot copy bonnet which was ok but my genuine JDM OCD never really bonded with it...(Used to only use it in the summer and switch back to a normal one in the winter)
Attachment 617257
Attachment 617258
After going through 2 x heater matrixes and 2 x mapping sessions with problems (rats nest which I replaced all of it), fitting a 99 spec wing I still enjoyed driving it and attended as many of the local Snetterton events whether with our car club or trackways, touring car etc etc.
One such occasion with my R32 owning friend and another mate with his FD
Attachment 617259
Stock wheels were back on as I ran over an unseen pile of tacks which destroyed 2 of the Jap tyres :(

Enough was enough with the coilovers though, I looked to Tein Superstreets which seemed a good compromise and having driven a mates R32 Skyline on Tein Flex round the Nurburgring seemed good enough. To say it was a revelation was an understatement and I know that they are basic coilovers, swapping to them made the ride much more pleasurable.

Now that was probably 5-6 years ago now......I had some life changing things happen so the RX7 was taken off the road and left.
Decided the only way to deal with things was to start spending money on the car and thanks to the encouragement of friends I was on the hunt for parts. I also bought myself (and don't flame me!) a JDM EP3 which is a great daily driver albeit a bit embarrassing when someone in a UK one pulls up next to you and either revs the heck out of there car or waves at you in his best baseball cap :(

Anyway first up was a decent Vmount, a PWR popped up at the right time and also a secondhand GT35/40 which I hoarded plus a whole host of fuel parts, blanking plates, pulleys from the DM Guys.
The bottom line is the engine bay looked like this:
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5344/...afc2d538_c.jpg
Plus after the car had sat dormant whilst I spent ages ripping it to bits I woke it up on the dyno where Jaydee had come to map some of our cars. Mine made about 350bhp on wastegate pressure as the boost controller had given up the ghost and the fueling was odd. So whilst I still hunted around for parts the car was left while we sold a house, then sold our house and bought a new one.
New hunted down parts included some Bride seats and Luke harnesses (I had been stockpiling)....

Polybushed all my arms

secondhand wider TE37s
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/511/1...d1d35762_c.jpg
Plus a whole raft of other bits, braided lines etc etc.

The Feed arches above haven't been fitted yet....was a trial fit.

Will leave this pic of the bay (water injection needs plumbing in again, hoses on the right - one of the best mods I ever did!):

Plus this is what the car currently looks like mods wise (but before the latest bits were fitted):

Then earlier this year I decided to order some JDM parts...

My favourite brand.....
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5602/...2e5b203a_c.jpg
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/547/1...55e4c28d_c.jpg
plus scuff plates...
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/290/1...9936c8e5_c.jpg
fitted...(ignore the water injection wiring, gonna tidy that up before anyone says....)
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/423/1...42708854_c.jpg
Also this beauty turned up....
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/502/1...1a07c6ca_c.jpg
Genuine AD9 bonnet :)

Also fitted a Feed in tank adapter:
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3853/...2a930717_c.jpg

Proper Bride seat rail as one of mine came with a fixed bracket that is designed for 'hobbitses' to sit on the floor so being 6ft it had to go!
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/347/1...827ffd14_b.jpg

Feed carbon door handle and Ganador mirror covers - chavvy some people would say......me being a Feed brand whore says otherwise however no branding on the mirror covers which is a shame :( Plus of course a Re-Amemiya t-shirt....just the thing for walking round car shows and round the house and apparently nowhere near my wife if we go outside!!
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/480/1...e4e64ba2_b.jpg

Feed carbon skirts, these are fantastic quality and come with the holes already in place and all the fitting kit which is much better quality than the secondhand set that apparently were genuine feed but when turned up appeared not to be as they were fibreglass and painted and the holes made with a fisher price drill. Also a genuine 99 spec lip as mine has been painted which obviously on GRP has cracked badly and I really couldn't be bothered to peel all the paint off!

gmogle Dec 31, 2015 02:04 PM

An order arrived yesterday for the motor....

Feed fender braces.......I figured while the bodyshop were taking the arches off I would fit these.....'man maths' as a mate calls it!
https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5649/2...c1af2f2c_b.jpg

Re-Amemiya nose snouts for my AD9 bonnet:
https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1615/2...6b339da6_b.jpg
https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1670/2...a2be5edd_b.jpg

Odula 99 spec spoiler carbon end plates:
https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1614/2...799bd273_b.jpg
its just a bit of glue that white mark on the left one....bit of spit and polish cleared it up:
https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1451/2...3bda1604_b.jpg

Finally, after feedback from another forum about whether a BGW was too much. A friend and I had discussions about the blades for the 99 spec spoiler and as I wanted the more aggressive version I chose the Odula rather than Autoexe.
Therefore
https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1584/2...cdfca497_b.jpg
https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5623/2...f291bdb1_b.jpg
Just balanced on top of the normal one but look at that angle......
https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1583/2...8308eca4_b.jpg

Out of all the things I have ever bought for my car the Odula spoiler has to be the best looking product. I cannot wait to fit it.

Lots of quality parts. Those feed door handle covers are self adhesives? Any pics of them installed...
