Bringing it to DGRR?

Yep, we are. Jeanne and I are both going and already registered. We were thinking of staying in Bryson city next year during the event because of the local brewery, shops, restaurants, and especially that train. Gonna do it time.

Gotcha, make sense.

Looking forward to catching up and seeing the car in person.

This has been addressed and made aware for the community but I also wanted to show the destruction that pineapple racing pulleys have. I hope it didn’t strain my crank since the belt melted, seizes, and snapped with lots of squealing and smoke.

And yet they continue to sell a defective product...

7krayziboi 11-14-18 05:12 PM

How many miles on it ?

Your the 5th person that I see with my own eyes that pulley does that...I don’t know why the hype around it ,...ughhh

Bummer on the pulley. FWIW I've been using the Full Function Engineering pulley on my car for 2 years of track abuse and it's done great. I previously had a garfinkle that I had to replace the bearings in twice because they would puke out the grease after hard track use.

DaleClark 11-15-18 11:18 AM

I bought like 4-5 of these ages back from Pineapple. One of the other guys had the bearing start to spit out grease and was noisy. Called Rob at Pineapple and he shipped me a replacement bearing at no charge.

I think Rob either had some bad bearings or something. He does stand behind the product and the bearing is pretty easy to change out, I did it with a vice and a few sockets in a few minutes.

In other words I wouldn't say the Pineapple pulley is bad. It's a solid design and a good price. I think he got a bad batch of bearings at some point. Also, remember that pulley has been out for a LONG time!

Not to discredit pineapple racing or their work, but I was hoping after reading others misfortune regarding the poor quality control units he recieved from the manufacturer he was using, that I wouldn’t go through the same experience. I use this site for a journal of my car and experiences to refer back on. I’ve driven thousands of miles over 4 years of the pulley being installed. I didn’t think to even reach out for a warranty or any replacement parts due to the time, age, and distance the pulley had.
So I ordered the FFE pulley and comparing notes, the pineapple racing pulley is stiff and solid. The ffe pulley has some slop and play. Which I reached out to the company about to be assured this is how thier design is. I feel a bit uncertain about it and still haven’t heard from them.

Since the lenses are made for a rhd vehicle, it's a bit awkward on the left side but all in all it looks good and will feel good on my eyes. Even my wife has complained about the bright lights sitting low in the Rx7 giving us a sunburn. So, I had to take care of that. I am thinking about tinting the hatch so I don’t have to deal with people creeping close to my car just because they know they are blinding us and try to get as close to the car as possible. Freaking jerks.

It looks so good inside and out.

Not sure who won after hitting a filthy dirty raccoon. Luckily damage wasn’t so bad besides the bent air duct fin, couple rips in the bumper from the bolts breaking loose from the impact, and spiderweb cracks. Other then that, 2 A.M. last night, installed the Montego blue lip that’s a bit marred from the wreck.

I had a second gear grind banging through the gears and installed a AS Auto engine torque damper and it’s now eliminated. Great thing about it is, I can stiffen it or soften the damper like a coilover to reduce nvh.

i also picked up a cheap set of feed style skirts. Now I’m a brand whore but this was that cheap I chased after it locally.

Johnny Kommavongsa 02-28-19 09:09 PM

Feed side steps looks good Where did u get that damper?

Rocketeerbandit 02-28-19 11:02 PM

Here’s where I picked it up.

More expensive then weapon r but cheaper then rmagic.

A buddy and I are doing a freshen up on the brakes.

Irperformance supplies slotted StopTech Rotors and Sakebomb SS brake lines. Banzai Racing with their ebc redstuff and Stoptech 660 Dot4. And lastly, sakebomb Garage is selling IRPs brake booster stopper.

So, Tito and I ordered new brake clips, wires, and pins from a eBay seller in Australia that will arrive shortly.
We also need to replace the grease boots on the rear calipers. And Atkins Rotary sells the kit for the rebuild.
We might replace the front calipers seals and need some advice on its removal and installation.

Painted the brakes with G2 acrylic paint. Looks like they are powder coated but will have more resistance to heat. Polished the Mazda lettering along with the sumitomo.

Installed the EBC Red Stuff song with brand new clips to hold the brakes in. The pins are also new.

We tore out the rubber lines and replaced them with Stainless steel lines sold by Irperformance.

Bleed the brakes with speed bleeders which helped the process very quickly. Old fashion brake pumping is better then using a mityvac. I don’t recommend it after spending too much time and getting no where. The brake fluid that I picked out is stoptech 660.

Now, to Some fun stuff. My radio was unrepairable from Factory Radio Service out in California. So I gave in to buy a double din touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. I have to have music when I’m driving. The radio isn’t going to cut it.

I installed a Alpine ILX-107 because of its features, reviews, and most of all, it’s elegance. It’s clean with simplicity face adds to the interiors luxury. I installed some new Alpine speakers in the rear and removed some older Alpine S lines lol. The fronts were also older Alpine’s S that I left alone because 5 1/4 speakers I bought is not a direct fit.
