Update: 91 Vert 435 rwhp

Between tuning everyone elses' cars, I had a chance to tweak our Vert project a little more. It put down 435 rwhp @ 15.4 psi , I took it up to 7750 rpm and power was still climbing. It also put down 408rwhp at low boost of 12.5 psi. This is all done on pump gas. And just a note: it was 90F here today.

Arghx- this time I did testing on the air filter. I ran without any filter and got 434rwhp then put the filter back on and ran 435rwhp, this could easily just be the margin of error in the dyno. So I would have to say that this style K&N in not effecting anything in either a positive or negative way.

awesome! i have a project similar and hope to have good results like yours.

^nice!

Nice power bro. I'm building my t2 for my vert now

Jimmy2222 08-26-10 12:14 AM

I know this thread is super old, but how come you made so much power compared to others who have used 35R's? Most people I've seen sit mid 3's. Do 13B-RE's actually flow that much more?

Banzai-Racing 08-26-10 04:52 AM

I can not tell you why others make less power, unless I have actually seen the car. It could be something in their set up or very easily their tuning.

At 15psi with the 35R on a healthy engine we nearly always see 400+ rwhp. The 13b-re has larger primary intake runners then ever the 13b-rew, but we see similar HP on ported FD's.

Mustang dynos are hardly high reading dynos either

Nick_d_TII 08-27-10 11:38 AM

Fuuuu...

That must be a f'ing rocket! And you can put the top down...

Just had a customer's TII on the dyno. It has one of our SP S5 TII engines with a GT35R , Power FC, etc. It made 416rwhp at 15 psi, so the others that you are seeing with lower power, it is certainly in the build and tune.

arghx 09-04-10 08:19 AM

What was the correction factor on the original dyno sheet in this thread?

Banzai-Racing 09-08-10 06:04 PM

No way to remember that. As stated it was 90F so there was a correction factor.

I was tuning a car today, it was 71F with 35% humidity, the correction factor was 1.01%.

Chris,

Could you list the differences between your shop car and Khris's FC? I am trying to make as accurate as possible the comparison for future customers who want to use our stageV GT35R. It appears by looking at your website the stageV spools around 500rpms faster if the testing was done the same...

Banzai-Racing 09-15-10 05:52 PM

The differences are vast, ours is a 13b-re the other is a 13b-t just for starters. You can do a detailed comparison, just click on his car and you can see the entire project, same goes for our shop Vert.

Actually your turbo about spools 500rpm slower, the graph rpm was off by 1000, I was taking his car to 7800, dyno was reading 6800. His car sees 15psi at around 4600rpm. This could easily be improved with a less restrictive exhaust, but at that point he sacrifices the quiet nature of the current setup.

Similarities would be Power FC, HKS twin power, RB exhaust, ACT clutch and flywheel

Side note: We will have our Vert back on the dyno some time next week, we will see how it does when it is not 90F out.

I always wanted this set up, I was a little surprised at the HP, I was expecting more?

Banzai-Racing 09-15-10 06:40 PM

Let me guess you are comparing it to Dynojet numbers? That is the only reason I can possibly come up with that you woud be "expecting more"

400-425rwhp @ 1 bar on a GT35R is right where it is suppose to be on a Mustang Dyno

Rob XX 7 09-15-10 06:46 PM

why do you have to get so nasty when people ask questions?

Banzai-Racing 09-15-10 06:52 PM

You always take everything so personal, you need to relax. I see nothing "nasty" at all in my response.

What exactly is your question? You are trying to say that you expected our car to make more power? Compared to what?

Rob XX 7 09-15-10 07:21 PM

I am saying that I have always wanted that set up, that I pictured it to be more of a 450-460 combo, when you were building this car 2 things came to mind- first was "now I cant do that because its being done", second was "i cant wait to see what it puts out"

I was just estimating more that's all

Banzai-Racing 09-15-10 07:44 PM

You do realize you are talking about 15hp? That is not noticeable while driving. For that matter 2 different dynos can vary by that small of a margin. That is 3.5%, as I am sure you are aware, there are shops out there making claims of 25-30% difference.

Again as I stated in the very first post it was 90F that day. The car is going back on the dyno some time next week, it will be in the 70's, that is worth 5-10hp right there, if not more.

I could easily make more power if I wanted to make the car so loud it would be intolerable to drive. I would much rather have a nice "quiet-ish" car and sacrifice a few hp. Same holds true for my 20B FD.

Rob XX 7 09-15-10 07:51 PM

I just wanted more, it almost makes you wonder if running 15psi with pump gas does the set up justice

Banzai-Racing 09-15-10 08:32 PM

I would not have it any other way, it is not like I am going to run race gas in our street vert just to crank the boost up for a dyno chart. We run pump fuel, so it is tuned on pump, pretty simple. If I want to add water/meth I could, but why? The car is a real 400+ hp Vert.

So now you can do it, because it has not been done.

Banzai-Racing 09-23-10 06:58 PM

OK, we had both the FC and FD on the dyno today. Made some minor changes to the Vert;
1. Installed turbo screen and eliminated the filter
2. Installed R6725-10 NGK Race Plugs http://banzai-racing.com/store/86-91...ark_plugs.html
3. Installed a new Koyo N-flow, just to help keep the temps down when the A/C is on. http://banzai-racing.com/store/86-91_rx-7_radiator.html

Cleaned up the low boost 12.5psi made 427rwhp and 15psi made 451rwhp
Here is the sheet comparing the 2 runs:

why don't torque and horsepower cross at 5252 rpm?
