Starter Relay Kit for all Mazda RX-7's

The "click, click, start" issue is a very common problem with the RX7, as the electrical components age the problem gets worse. Our easy to install Starter Relay Kit mounts next to the starter to insure that the solenoid gets full voltage when you turn the key. We have developed this kit utilizing a completely waterproof 40amp relay with a built in resistor for voltage spikes, all terminals have heat shrink insulation for durability and protection.

Just ordered one.

I had the Pettit version and I had to take it out to resolve a click no-start issue. Is this one different?

Actually if I remember correctly, you had a no start issue from installing an high torque starter that pulled too much amperage for the 30amp relay that they provide. Basically it fried the relay.

Ours is a 40amp relay with an internal resistor for maximum voltage spike protection. Additionally our is water proof with sealed terminals.

the bosch sealed units are still typically rated 30/40a, so the switched end is the same as the standard 30a relays, haven't seen any rated 40a off the switched side yet unless these are special.

the Hella relays are still rated at 30/40A respectively(i put bosch when meant hella), only real difference is the sealing of the unit if it is mounted in a way that water can get in.

Yep I saw this a few days ago prior to even seeing this thread. You will probably see an order come through monday for one and some vacuum lines :)

Actually nearly all of my product development is derived from necessity (the mother of invention). Both of my FD's have been "click, click, starting" , even after bypassing the security relay, replacing the starter, ignition switch, clutch switch, running the battery directly to the starter and running new grounds. I came up with this Heavy Duty Relay after seeing others for sale that consisted of a standard plastic tab mount $6 relay that was not waterproof and had non-heat shrinkable crimp connectors trying to sell for $30-$50. I have been working on this for several months off and on, to come up with a superior product that can handle the draw of our High Torque starters and provide protection from the elements under a car. I decided our product needed to have a metal mounting bracket and that all connections would be sealed, even the crimp terminals can't be pulled off. It is pretty easy to pull the wire out of a standard parts store terminal, ours are all Molex heat sealable crimp terminals.

Our relay can be swapped for any OTS relay as it has a standard pinout. Or even just connect the starter wire back to the solenoid.

Rreally? Hmm, I have seen the $6 unsealed relay you try to sell on ebay. Time to go crap in someone else's thread. Probably time to have the admins clean up your garbage posts. :dunno:

Pleased to announce that starting 2/13/2018 we will be shipping our Version 2 that features a 50 amp weatherproof relay. It is compatible with a Version 1 harness.

It would potential prevent it from happening in the future, otherwise No.

May I ask what was the need for a version 2 (50A) relay over version 1 (40A)? Is it for FDs with high torque starters?

So I had a 1 click no start issue, and ended up purchasing the 2kw starter from banzai due to the weak startup on original. After installed same issue 1 click. I’ve replaced the clutch start switch, ignition switch and added the Bonzai starter bypass relay. I think this bypass the security relay ? So after all that same issue. 1 click no start. The 95 FD has a remote fob lock system and had a Lo Jack system that was never removed. I have done hours of research and I’m out of ideas. Everything works full power no start 1 click. I’m down to relays or the main ground system off battery. Bonzai customer service said it sounded like I need a new security relay. I thought the bypass relay took care of that. Anyone that has insight or can explain what else I can do. ? I’m desperate.

The bypass does eliminate the security relay.
