We bypass the radiator and run the lines directly to the trans cooler.

The Banzai Racing Auto FD got some love today. Swapped out the Pulleys for one of our Black Aluminum Kits and installed a PFS SMIC.

It is in very good condition, just what this car needed. The PFS has always been one of my favorite SMICs for it's looks.

Whats up with the weird lines at around 7K RPM? How does it feel compared to a manual trans car when punching it from a roll? How many miles were put on this since the engine rebuild over 4 years ago to just tune it now?!

I think the trans was getting hot, causing a slight slip at 7K, and then is would recover. I see those marks on dyno sheets when the tires spin or the straps have come loose, neither of which were the case here.

It is completely different from a manual trans, not having the boost blow off when shifting makes for very solid shifts. Played around with the hold button a little on the street after tuning was done. The car also has a 4:30 rear, so acceleration is rapid from a roll. Basically is it a 350hp FD that Grandma can drive. Slow from a standing start.

The car only has about 600miles on it, I actually let a friend of mine drive it around for the last month just to get those miles on it. It is not a primary car or even one of my primary RX-7s. It is a side project and we are a very busy shop, so there are months (years) that this sat in the corner of the dyno building.

The answer is probably no as the auto FD was never really a car people focused on, but can you install a higher stall speed torque converter? Isn't the stock stall speed like 3,000-3,200 RPM? If a 4,000-4,5000 RPM converter could be installed that would help a lot with launches wouldn't it? Maybe hurt drive-ability a touch though.

The torque converter is not rotary specific and can be modified to any stall speed.

Cool. I didn't mean rotary specific, just transmission specific as it might not be a transmission that was used in any other car? Anyway, cool to know it would be possible to increase the stall speed and launch it harder if you really wanted to make it an attractive drag car.

Can you post any details on the L10 modifications?

Did you ever add an upgraded trans cooler?

Search Level 10 Transmission. I am having the TC upgraded to the bulletproof TC, basically the equivalent of an upgraded clutch. This should eliminate the little slip in the high end of the rpm range. Cooler is stock, have not had a reason to change it yet.

It is in the works. Super busy working on customers' cars, which always happens. One of the reasons that I have put less than 1000 miles on this car since I have owned it.

Today, the car will be getting the first of a brand new product that we will be releasing next week. Stay tuned for a sneak peak.

I got tired of looking at the S4 plastic filler neck used for the AST elimination, so I sat down and designed a billet aluminum part. It has a removable nipple with 1/8 npt threads. We will be offering it as a kit with a new viton o-ring and stainless hardware.
