a-spec tuning

i would just like to post that a-spec tunning was building me a t67-68 kit. the kit was ordered in april or feb, i spoke to sean the owner and placed the order. i sent $2000 deposit. i then spoke to him again the last week of april and was told that he was finishing two fc kits that were placed before my order.(mine is a fd) he told me my kit would be ready the first week of may and that he had the turbo in already. i asked for an invoice to be sent which it was. the total was $4400.00. i then sent the balance with a copy of my invoice out to a-spec the last week of april. well its now june and after sevral calls i only get a voice mail. no call backs after tons of messages. so i tried emails, nope nothing, i tried pm's to a-spec here as they are a sponsor, nothing!!!!!!! so if there is anyone out there that knows them personaly i would really like to contact them somehow. you would think being a sponsor here and having a website the could be reliable however $4400 later and no returned calls or emails. im trying to get someone to talk to. i dont want to have to take leagle action and start spreading the word around at the local dyno's and shops that they are untrustworthy and bad. i dont want to ruin anyones shop or sales BUT, I have paid out alot of money in full for a kit because i took them for their word and things i have read here on rx7 fourm. and now im at a loss at what else to to.

Sean and Aspec are stand up people however they are always backed up with work. I'm sure they will come through with your kit, its just going to take time.

Holy shit that was a headache and a half to read. . .punctuation is your friend. . .

It's race season. . .everyone is building their cars and ordering shit for them. I was smart enough to place an order in the fall. . .then received it in the spring. . .

In Sean's defense, it's fucking busy for any shop right now. . .we've got about 12 cars lined up for kits/rebuilds and they keep pouring in. . .

We've been dealing with Sean for a few years now and haven't had a single issue. . .patience is key. . .

He is hard to get a hold of sometimes but he always pulls through. . .I hope you get a hold of him and resolve this. . .

I have a turbo kit that A-Spec built for me. The delivery was probably 8-10 weeks beyond the initial estimate. They are crazy busy at the shop, but I'm sure Sean will come through for you.

With words like "leagle" and "Fourm" I guess you think that TECH means "the Bitch about Member's section".
I can feel your pain man,but really you have to take into account that you are not the only guy with a Rotary, and the Shop is a Busy place to get into.
Maybe they took on too much but you have to understand that there are people ahead of you too.So many people to work on a lot of cars.
Keep on plugging away contacting them, they will get back to you.
Quality takes time.Sometimes it seems too long, but in the end it will be what you wanted.
Try Facebook?.

You don't need to worry, Sean has a good name here and has been around for a long time. He is probably just busy. For some reason most rotary shops aren't very responsive.

Sorry to hear about that man, sounds like you have every reason to be frustrated, that is A LOT of money, and there's 100 ways to communicate these days without having to apply much effort. But there's always more to the story. What can ya do.

Sounds like you just gotta wait it out. And you should also apply for a job at the shop and get things moving with such a surplus of cars rolling in.

this is what im saying, everyone here says they are one of the best, and ive actualy seen one of their t67 kits on smg944's car. i dont mean to bash or bad mouth anyone, however if any of you sent out that kind of money to someone you never met then all of a sudden they stoped communacating with you for over a month with no contact options at all, im sure you would feel the same.

i geuss ill give it some more time,

I understand. I just don't know why these guys cannot respond to e-mails or pick up the phone. It's just not that difficult. I know I've shopped elsewhere when I couldn't contact the vendor. I guarantee they lose a lot of business accordingly.

Anyhow, Sean isn't a guy you have to worry about, I guess you will just have to be patient.

I have no doubt given their reputation that things will turn out ok, but you guys have got to be joking.

He sent them $4K and hasn't heard from them in 2 MONTHS. I dont care if you're racing with a reincarnated Senna, that's fucking crazy and totally unacceptable. They didn't miss his call and then spend a couple days getting back with him, 2 MONTHS.

Sadly, increasingly more people do business like this. You pay more for a kit for ease and customer service. This is neither easy, nor courteous to the customer.

I experienced similar lack of communication and follow up earlier this year, but in the end, they did pull through.

I would use them again as they are local and what they showed me of their work looked great. However, I now know to budget triple the estimated time and expect many attempts to reach them just to get it scheduled.

They aren't businessman with solid customer service, but are really good grease monkeys.

russellisabel 06-11-12 11:57 AM

ok so this post got relayed to sean and he sent me an email saying the kit is pretty much complete and he will call me at the end of the work day. thank you everyone.
