IR Performance - Order placed 4/7/21 still not received!
 
So, I don't typically do things like this, and I'm more than willing to give a company the chance to make things right before I will go out of my way to publicly express an issue. However, I'm stuck and I don't know what else to do to get some attention and maybe resolve things. Here's the story:

March of 2021, my 13B met the end of its life. So, after some research, I decided that the easiest and fastest way to get it back on the road was to order an OEM short block to swap in. IR Performance was the obvious choice to order from, given their pretty spectacular reputation on these forums. On April 7th, 2021, I placed an order over the phone for a 13B brand new engine, a Turblown stud-kit, and an OEM Mazda gasket set. The total for all of this, with shipping, was about $7100, which I paid for that day. Now, its important to note that although they list new 13B engines as "in stock" on their website, they did inform me that there was not any in stock, and it would be awhile before a new shipment arrived and mine would get sent out. I was okay with this, and I don't recall if they were willing to estimate how much time it would take, but I know I ordered with the expectations of it taking a few months, at least. Well, more and more time went by, and I was able to contact them via phone throughout 2021 to get some updates. Each time, they explained that there is a "list" and that I was moving up the list and that "no worries", my turn would come. I patiently waited...and waited...and waited. Now, 9 months into 2022...17 months after I paid for the engine, I'm beginning to run out of patience. The difficult part is, IRP has not taken a phone call from me in probably 3-4 months. I have called weekly and left countless messages on their voicemail, and still, nothing. I have even messaged them on 9/16/22 through PM on this forum. They have not replied. It was gutting to see that Sakebomb had a pile of engines to sell last week, and I couldn't even get a hold of IRP to refund my money so I could order one from them. Now, it is too late and I believe they are sold out. Perhaps if I was able to order one from Sakebomb, it would have been delivered already and I could install and enjoy the RX-7 for a few weeks before winter. I'm simply at my wits end as to what to do, or where to go from here. I fear I have lost over $7000 on a purchase I thought was a for sure thing. I also think at this point it is important to warn others about doing business with this company.

I placed an order for a new REW with them OVER THE PHONE on September 9th 2021. I was told it could be a few months till it came in but I was purchasing my spot in line. After a YEAR of spotty communication from him he tells me I am 3rd in line in WEB orders and he also has another list for people who order in person or on the PHONE who also order other parts like turbo kits and stuff and he plays with the list as needed…..sounds like we are not getting or products we paid for. He also refuses to issue a refund.

Update: Paul called me back this morning after I called the shop about 10 times. He is going to request a refund from Mazda, and then generate a refund for me on Wednesday or Thursday this week. Will update the thread if this really happens.

It seems very funny that you have not received your engine. (Lol) You ordered in April of 2021, I ordered Sept. 2021 and yet he tells me I am 3rd in line now, so he is saying only 3 other orders were ordered in 6 months but in November of 2021 he received 4 of them.And only 1 engine has come in since May?? I understand there was orders placed before us…not an exact science/count but something is not adding up. I wish some people who have or have not received their order would chime in. He has to understand the frustration being created here.

Incredibly frustrating. If communication was consistent and honest, I'd wait for an engine if that's what had to be done. But when you call a company multiple times a week with no response...it's scary.

Just an update- It's now been over two months since IR said they would issue a refund, and I have yet to receive one. I've left multiple voicemails with no response and they also will not reply to my facebook messages.

They have plenty of time to post stories on instagram though.

Today at 10:30 AM, Paul called me and issued me a full refund for my order. It is currently pending in my account, which I understand may take a few days. So, of course, I am very happy that this matter is very nearly resolved. However, I hope that others that have also shared their issues will also be issued refunds or receive the items they have been waiting for.

No updates except that I have messaged them twice since 5-31-23 asking where my engine was since they posted getting 4 delivered to them. in may of 2022 they told me I was 4th in line........no answer from them. Just ignoring me.They also told me that if my engine showed up before a refund then I would get the engine. Neither has happened.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm having transparency and communication issues as well, but not related to buying an engine. Their auto-reply message on Facebook Messenger says the best way to get ahold of them is to call their shop or send an email but in the 15 times I have called since December 7th they've never picked up the phone and they've called me back like 3 times. Emails tend to go unanswered as well and of late the Facebook messages just say they're working through their backlog.
