Beware of RotaryShack on ebay too

I recently had my first run in with Rotary Shack via ebay.

Here is how it went.

There was a carb package on ebay for $700 or best offer.

I send an offer of $500 (maybe a bit low but I will take a counter offer)

After 48 hours there is no response, so I resubmit, another 48 hours and I submit a 3rd time, after 48 more hours I get this.

"Hell No".......... that's was it, nothing else.

So I reply:

"Dear rotaryshack,

"Hell No"

I guess thats why you were banned from Rx-7 Club?

Knowing your track record I probably never would have received it anyway.......

Considering that no one will do business with you, you should treat your potential customers nicer......

Have a great day, I will be taking my business to Racing Beat."

After a day he responds:

Dear jfachner72,

good luck getting a complete carb kit with the correct jets from racingbeat for $500.00! LOL!!!
i have sold lots of items to rx7 club members on a daily basis and im extremely busy, no time for lowballers. thanks

- rotaryshack

So I respond:

Dear rotaryshack,

Seriously Rob,

I will pay the $900 to Racing Beat just to be sure that I actually get something.

I am sure you have sold alot to Rx7club members, I am also sure that you have ripped alot of them off.....

You put an item up for $700 or Best Offer..... What should I have offered you ???? $699.....

You are a scammer Rob. and you always will be!

Just another thread to start on the forum.

"Beware of RotaryShack on ebay too"

and finally his last response:

Dear jfachner72,

i could go down to $640.00 for the complete kit. you will get a tracking # the next business day. i do have 100% feedback and i plan on keeping it that way :)
i will need all your current mods,as well as the altitude where you live to get the jetting as close as i can, also i need to know if your going to keep the oil injection as well, i will install fittings and supply you with new silicone hose free of charge

- rotaryshack

Anyway,

I did not know the history of RotaryShack and the club until now.

I will be ordering the RB unit!

7dust 07-17-10 01:35 PM

Okay.

Ummm...

SO?

1. You lowballed the guy and he was polite enough to ignore you.

2. You pestered him again with a lowbal and he ignores you.

3. You bugged him again and he was sick of your BS and he told you HELL NO.

4. Not happy, you wouldn't leave the issue alone and you insulted him because he wouldn't accept your lowball offer.

5. He offers you a counter-offer and you insult him again.

The worst thing the guy did to you was say HELL NO.

You're just a dick.

jfachner72 07-17-10 02:03 PM

Hey 7dust,

Obviously your one of Rob's fanboys.

Do you think that an offer of $500 on an item listed at $700 is a lowball?

The make an offer idea is so I can make an offer, right? If he wanted to counter offer he could have said $640 a week ago.

And, I am not too sure why you called me a dick? Did I do something to offend you personally?

Turbo8 07-17-10 02:57 PM

Although I would agree the seller ignoring your lowball offer (yes, it's a low ball offer) and then finally coming back with "Hell no!" was less than professional, I don't feel any parties involved here wronged enough to warrant a "Bad Guy" thread on 7Club.

Basically he just turned down your offer, then counter offered you for $60 less than the item was listed for, even after you insulted him numerous times. Not sure what the deal here is...

7dust 07-17-10 04:17 PM

jfachner72:

To calrify -

I have no first hand knowledge that I know of with you or Rotaryshack.

I did not mean to call you a dick exactly.

What I MEANT to say is that as you presented your story you give me the impression that you were being a complete dick to the guy.

Basically, as turbo8 pointed out, "not sure what the deal is here..."

tasty danish 07-17-10 04:24 PM

Yeah, I've never been a customer of rotaryshack, but I don't know why you feel he was obligated to counter your lowball offer. His behavior was fine and he even offered you a discount after you were such a prick.

If a fly keeps bugging you, do you not swat at it? Re-submitting an offer 3 times that he ignored is pretty chode-worthy. I would have told you to go pound sand.

jfachner72 07-17-10 04:52 PM

Maybe because I have spent the last 17 years in the Automotive Industry I am accustomed to answering people when they ask me something.

I have a $55,000 car and someone offers me $40,000 I dont reply "hell no".......

If Rob is so well off that he doen not need to earn customers then my bad.

He should have replied regardless or set a minimum offer price.

It dont make a difference now I am ordering another kit.

tasty danish 07-17-10 04:57 PM

You don't make many offers on ebay do you? Ignoring is a pretty standard response to offers that sellers don't feel they can do anything with.

And obviously it made enough of a difference to you to make a thread about it, but I agree, you bought another kit, you shouldn't have made this thread. Are you going to request a mod close this one too?

Sounds like the Op was just being a Dick, You sent him 3 offers annoying him what do you really expect?

The seller was polite otherwise, the buyer kept bringing up references to Get a rise out of the buyer....

Why would I request a mod to close the thread?

And yes I do plenty of business on eBay including $200,000 Supercars! I have never left a "potential customer" hanging for a week!

Maybe that's why I am successful.........

rx7roller02 07-17-10 10:45 PM

alright, lets can this crap right now

For those of you that do not know, lets not pretend that Rotary Shack was polite to counter with an offer of their own....they have a rather large amount of people from this forum and elsewhere that they have taken money from and not delivered the parts or service that was promised. I have personally been involved in trying to settle many of these complaints and have personally spoken to Rob/Rotary Shack. I will say this--they are not allowed to conduct any business on this forum, in any capacity. Theres a reason for that. As we speak, there are people who are on this forum, that brought their cars to Rotary Shack OVER FOUR YEARS AGO and dropped THOUSANDS of dollars....and some of them have never even gotten their car back, let alone the parts and work that they paid for.

For those of you that think RS was "only being polite" when they didnt respond to the offer that the OP sent them, let's get real. When have any of you EVER seen a legitimate business that prides itself on NOT communicating with potential customers? If Rob doesnt want to have to respond to an offer, he shouldnt post things for sale with the "make offer" option available to bidders. I could care less if the guy offered $100....if you choose to do business in this way, then you dont have an excuse for not communicating with people.

Finally, to the OP, while I understand hwo you feel about the way they treated you, this section is for transactions. it is not for posting about sending someone an offer and them refusing it. If there was no sale, then its kind of hard to show people how someone conducts their business in a transaction. Also, we generally try to stick to sales that have taken place here on this forum, as we do not have any ability to influence a transaction on someone else's website. I'm sure you can understand. In the meantime, Rotary Shack is like the bear at the zoo--nothing good will come from you poking at him in his cage with a big stick. Rob's history is quite well documented on this forum. believe me, the moment you learned about their past, you were better off. It's probably best to simply leave it at that.

I am closing this thread, but it will not be deleted. If anyone has any questions about Rotary Shack, feel free to PM me on the matter.
